Pricing isn't always the best but the market is a good size and filled with vegan options. Frozen section has brands such as daiya, gardein, impossible, beyond, and a variety of vegan ice creams. In the frozen section there's also some treats brought in from sweets of the earth which include biscotti, shortbread, Nanaimo bars and cupcakes. The bakery carries a few vegan items brought in from a different bakery and in a small cooling unit across from the counter. Deli has some vegan safe options like a tofu pasta salad. Supplement section carries vegan supplements, protein powders, and self-care items. Large spice and sauce sections with many vegan options, of note they carry almost all the sauces produced by The Naam in Vancouver. Good selection of international ingredients. The standard tofu and non-dairy options are here along with local options from Green Cuisine downtown. The produce section isn't bad but is not very large. You can sometimes find chocolate from Pure Lovin grab and go here.
Location is bigger than the one downtown Victoria. The complex has a large parking lot.
The Market has a great selection of food from some producers which is really nice. They have some vegan cheeses too and a great supplements and natural products section with knowledgeable staff
The Market Stores is locally-owned & family operated. They have 2 outlets, at Yates & at Millsteam. The Yates location is downtown. It is wonderful to have a well-stocked grocer in the downtown vicinity. The store carries a wide selection of local produce. I like their variety of vegan & organic products too. Although their store is not as large as the big chain grocery stores out there, they have a decent selection of international products for Asian cooking. They also usually have some vegan baked treats at the deli section, so keep a lookout if you go by the store!
This is a good general grocery and health food store, with all the vegan items you would expect and some decent organic produce. I noticed that Thrify's seems to have an equally good selection of all the same products, however, at a slightly lower price.
Decent sized grocery store but I didn't find a lot of vegan products. It seemed to be less focused than Whole Foods in terms of health product selections and was more like a regular grocery store with an organic twist.
Noticed they had vegan pastries in the deli area (marked as "New") - including cinnamon rolls, plain croissant, mocha caramel croissant, some type of fruit filled pastry, and even a savory croissant (all of them vegan).
Dropped into the Market yesterday and found that there was a whole isle of teas! Chose a locally packaged tea by Tea Turtle which had a lovely recycled paper package holding 80gms of Green Dargeeling tea. It was only $8.95, which comes to a fairly reasonable $11 per 100 grams. Compared with David's Teas, Teavana, or Silk Road that is quite reasonable.
