Staff need educating on what they serve

Effort has clearly gone into having a veg and vegan dedicated menu so it was disappointing that the staff did not seem to have been educated in the contents of the menu. We ordered the jerk burger (vegan option) and the vegan pea protein kebab. What arrived first was the pea kofta bites starter, we told the server we didn't order a starter so she went back to the kitchen. Then the mains arrived, the burger was served with chips but on the menu it said the vegan option would be served with potatoes as the chips aren't vegan, I questioned this, she came back and said she didn't know why it said that because they are cooked in a separate fryer, I said its probably because some cheap chips contain milk, she said no, chips are made from potatoes. We left the chips. Also missing from the meals were peppers, tomatoes and vegan mayo. The desert came, vegan iced caramel bar with strawberries...the raspberries and raspberry coulis were missing but again no explanation. Overall very disappointing, food was very bland and the staff did not understand. We also waited a long time between main and dessert, I had to go and prompt the server to clear our plates and fetch dessert.
Such a shame considering they've put the effort in to develop a dedicated menu, a little staff education would go a long way.
