Very good. All organic - Edit
Very good; all organic. Salad place.. with vegan toppings. The owner plans to add in more vegan choices too. Loved the vegan chili and the raw vegan snickers cup too.

Best meal of my trip! - Edit
I had the Vietnamese salad at Lively Daikon and it was fabulous as was their on tap kombucha - Blood orange. The server asked me from the get go if I was vegan so he could offer me suggestions such as this salad dressing has fish sauce it it so I suggest thus instead. I loved the house made fermented foods that were added to my bowl. They offered sustainable take out containers and bamboo silverware. A for me!

Some healthy options, room to improve - Edit
The health-focused branding enticed us to try this friendly spot a few times, with mixed results. We agree with previous reviewers who said that the fermented items are the highlight, while everything else is pretty simple and bland. We appreciate the efforts to offer healthy food, and we wish they’d add a little more flavor to make it a win-win for the tongue as well as the gut. A little more diversity of vegan meal options would also help to bring us in more often.

Nice selection of vegan salads - Edit
We had the Vietnamese salad which was veganized with tempe, and had a ginger carrot dressing. Quite tasty. The cafe is in a great location downtown, across the street from the iconic Strater Hotel.

Welcoming - Edit
I thought Durango would be vegan friendly and dog friendly. While it wants to be both it is mostly neither. After an hour of searching it was a relief to find a place with vegan entrees, outdoor seating, and was accommodating of a solo traveler with two dogs. The taco bowl was ok. Could have used more heat and a dallop of vegan chili (also on the menu). I was a little overwhelmed by the menu and my choices. Perhaps there was a better option for what I was craving…I was just so relieved to finally sit down!

Cons: Food needs more spice, Vegan options are fairly basic , Mix of house made and packaged ingredients

Excellent fare! - Edit
Having been travelling for a number of days, I was sorely in need of a truly healthy whole food plant based meal ... and it arrived at our lunch here at The Lively Daikon! I had the Make-It-Yourself bowl, which started with a base of either dark leafy greens or quinoa and then the addition of any of a large quantity of vegetables and choice of dressing. The bowl was delicious and fed my soul along with my body! Many other vegetarian choices, so plan to visit!

The salad was so good. Vegan feta and tzatziki sauce as the dressing. The vegan lentil soup was also really delicious, and the service was friendly.

Healthy yes- Flavorful no - Edit
Vegan for over 30 years and there is no reason healthy food can’t be flavorful. Love their mission to feed the gut properly to avoid disease, but not a fan of blah food. Was excited to read that they had salad bar and vegan chili, but again just okay. Chili had too much juice and not memorable. What I did like was the fermented options. Would probably just order those in future. Did appreciate that could get sweet potato vs rustic potato on build your own option.

Pros: Location in historic Durango , Mission of being healthy, Fermented options
Cons: Lacked flavor across the board - blah, Confusing when ordering

Fantastic fresh and healthy food! - Edit
We'd been on vacation for nine days and were desperate for fresh and healthy vegan food. I ordered a large Vietnamese salad and veganised it by removing the chicken and changing the dressing. I added wheat bites to replace the chicken. It was delicious!!! My husband and sons had vegan chilli with nachos a salad. My salad was the best though!!! We also had kombucha which is on tap there. The staff were nice and helpful.
