Nice spot - food tasty - but cafe bit too cold - Edit

This is in a great little spot off the main road and so it is quiet and peaceful. I had a hot chocolate and then later ate a soup. Both nice. It was a rainy day outside and I'd been on my bike and wanted somewhere warm, quiet, and friendly to sit. It ticked the box for quiet and friendly but to be honest the cafe was a bit too cold - the door and both windows were wide open. I wished I'd said something at the time but I didn't. However, another customer later did ask if they could close the windows as they were cold but the suggestion was to only close one of the windows and it was still cold. So not the cosiest of places but could easily be made so.

I'm giving it a 3 happy cows. If warmer would have easily got 4. I rarely give out 5s and I'm sure this beats any of the other options in Oban - so go here and be bolder than I if you feel cold.

Pros: Quiet and friendly, I enjoyed the food

Cons: Cafe a bit cold

Great place in Oban - Edit

Nice cafe in Oban. The food was very good for very resonable price. The staff also was very friendly. You have to order by the counter, but the food is being brought to your table. The have a huge selection of tea and many cakes. But also many hearty meals like currys, soups, wraps etc. We enjoed it very much and took some cake on the go. At first we didn't find it. Keep your eyes open on the main street, there's a sign that leads to into a little alley. The location is quite central though, just a few steps from the street.

Pros: Only veg place in the area, nice atmosphere, good food

A cosy vegan spot in Oban - Edit

We stayed in Oban for a long weekend and used the town as a base for island-hopping. We were very pleasantly surprised to discover that The Little Potting Shed was open in the evenings throughout August (I believe it usually closes at 4) and we ate there for dinner most nights, and breakfast one morning. We were very happy to find such a vegan-friendly spot in Oban! We enjoyed the food, but as other reviewers have said, the cakes are the stars of the show, and I'd definitely recommend leaving room for a slice of chocolate cake!

Pros: Vegan spot in a not very veg-friendly town, Friendly staff, Welcoming atmosphere

Cons: Service was slightly slow, but staff were lovely

Great variety, food takes forever - Edit

Cons: Ewige Wartezeiten, teilweise schlecht zubereitet

Unexpected joyful cafe - Edit

After having a troublesome week finding vegan food around Kintyre, it was great to find this cosy little cafe tucked away up a side street in Oban (next to the gallery). Lots of choice for veggie and vegan. No meat served :) Appears to do take out too. Seating includes several tables and a sofa with a bookcase full of vegan magazines and recipe books for inspiration. Old school indie on the radio. Dogs welcome and they even have free doggie treats. Joyful :)

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Vegan magazines while you wait

Inexpensive home style food - Edit

We stopped at The Little Potting Shed on a quick trip to Oban and had a lovely meal. This cafe is cleverly hidden in an alley in the very center of the city as well as a short walk from one of the few parking lots (car parks). The place is casual, but very clean and nicely decorated. They have a good sized menu of vegan and vegetarian foods and desserts. The owner took our order and patiently explained every dish. She was extremely sweet and friendly, which made our experience all that much better.
We ordered a tomato and butterbean soup, which was delicious, and two pies. One had a chickpea based filling and the other a bean based feeling (we forgot the menu names). Both were very tasty and came with a lovely vegan potato salad. For dessert we got the chocolate cake all the reviews raved about, and it was truly a very good, rich, chocolate cake, although a bit too sweet for our taste.
Overall, we immensely enjoyed our meal here and highly recommend this place to any vegans or vegetarians passing by Oban.

Pros: owner run, good food, great prices

lovely - Edit

Had a lovely stop here. Had the vegan chocolate cake, which was as good as the other reviewers had said it was. Took away a slice of vegan carrot cake, which was equally delicious. Lovely chat with Joolz too, who pointed us to a great campsite (Oban Caravan and Camping).

lovely wee place for a cosy cuppa and a great cake - Edit

Brilliant little cafe with a relaxed atmosphere in the centre of Oban. We ate the homity pie and a Brie, veg bacon and cranberry toastie and they were both really good. Both were served with fresh salad, only improvement would have been a salad dressing.
The star of the show was the vegan chocolate cake...sweet, creamy, chocolatey and delicious. Massive tea selection here and good array of home baking. Gluten free, vegan and vegetarians all catered for well.

A welcomed surprise. - Edit

Found by a chance on , as a hungry vegan on a trip must be always prepared. We popped in whilst waiting for our ferry, in hope for some small snack, with very little expectations. It is run by a couple of very sweet people, offering nutritious meals for a great value. The offer is quite wide. We warmed up with a bowl of soup, continued with tasty wraps, and left the best for the great finale; the most amazing chocolate cake to go.

Pros: great cake, wide variaty of teas,, vegan place where not expected

Cons: very little info about its existence

Welcome relief from the rest of Oban eateries - Edit

Great little place tucked away in a side street. Good choice of dishes, both veggie and vegan, and a great selection of desserts. Friendly service, nice atmosphere, and absolutely delicious food. I had the Thai wrap, my wife had the pitta with houmous and falafels, our daughter had lentil soup. Very tasty. Big kudos goes to The Little Potting Shed Cafe for being one of the very few places to NOT serve salad covered in oil (ie pure fat). We all had the vegan chocolate cake for dessert. Yumski! Will definitely be back here next time we are in Oban. GO VEGAN!!

Lovely find - Edit

My husband and I visited Oban, and had lunch at The Little Potting Shed Cafe. There is a good selection of veggie and vegan options, including soup, sandwiches and cakes. I enjoyed the Morrocan bean wrap (vegan) and my husband had the Chili cheese wrap (veggie). Both were served perfectly grilled with a lovely salad. We also sampled the cakes on offer. I had a decadent slice of vegan chocolate cake (complete with rich fudge icing) and my husband had the blueberry lemon loaf (veggie). My husband is an omni, but even he really enjoyed the lunch and there were clean plates all round. There is an extensive tea selection, and I had a nice soya latte.

The proprietress was really friendly and was even so kind as to share some of her baking secrets with us. My husband goes to Oban occasionally for work, and has vowed to have lunch here any time he's in town. We'll definitely visit again the next time we're on the west coast!

Pros: Delicious cakes, Friendly owner, Nice lunch selection - lots of options

Cons: None
