Great vegan brekkie - Edit
Good choice of vegan options including oatcakes breakfast which both my wife and I enjoyed. Reasonably priced. Small extra charge for oat milk. Good range of drinks and cakes.

Decent - Edit
Good grub but nothing special breakfast wise - one vegan breakfast option (full English) which consisted of Richmond sausage, bacon, baked beans, tomato, toast and mushrooms (tbf the mushrooms were a solid 10/10)
Read moreThere did seem to be a lot of vegan lunch options, I had a look at the vegan cakes (apricot cake or raspberry croissant) - the croissant appeared to be the same one that’s sold in the co op…
Staff also seemed overstretched as the cafe was quite busy.
All in all nice breakfast grub but could have thought outside the box a bit more!
Pros: Nice food , Mushrooms
Cons: Food was basic, Staff overworked/ slow service

There were loads of vegan options here. I had the Derbyshire oat cake with vegan cheese and tuna and it was really cracking. It also came with some complimentary coleslaw. There was at least one vegan cake, but I didn't try it. The staff were friendly too.

Gone down hill - Edit
Previously this had always been a really nice cafe. We always came here on our trips to Bakewell, but unfortunately yesterday will be our last.
Read moreThe place is relatively small, so it does get busy due to limited space. The menu is pretty good, standard cafe food, plenty of vegan and vegetarian options to choose from.
Now here comes the bad parts.. the staff never seem to crack a smile, they all seem like you being there is a small inconvenience (say for one lad who works there who is always super easy going and friendly)
Speaking of small, the portions are absolutely TINY. My sister got the vegan tuna sandwich, and the filling literally didn't even cover the bread. She asked if she could have some more as we assumed that it had been a mistake, but she was told "vegan tuna is expensive so that's all she puts on" - let's be real, over £8 for a single sandwich with next to no filling, a tiny pot of coleslaw and an uninspiring salad on the side? Absolutely ludicrous 🤦🏼♂️
Perhaps you think you'll just pop in for a coffee? In that case, be prepared to spend 40p extra if you want milk alternative in your drink. I know this is becoming the norm now, but it's a real bugbear of mine that I should have to spend 40p extra to not have cows milk in my drink!
They clearly make their business in passing trade being from a touristy place, so apparently they stopped caring about customer service and satisfaction a long time ago. It's a shame as it used to be so good!

Apparently I'm not allowed to give this place five stars because it's not fully vegan but....
Read moreThey have a vegan section in the menu, plant milks, the food was great and the service was exceptional so...I'm giving it five!

We used to love coming here years ago before we went vegan so we were very pleasantly surprised by the new vegan menu which had really good options. The vegan breakfast is reasonably priced and delicious!! It's just a shame they charge for alternative milks and don't have a vegan hot chocolate.

Overpriced :( - Edit
I had an oatcake with vegan cheese and sun dried tomato. It was alright but thought it was very expensive for not much food (just one oatcake and an uninspiring salad). It didn't fill me up and elsewhere in Bakewell two oatcakes are standard.

Nice vegan breakfast - Edit
We were starving, and hungover, so it was brilliant to find somewhere that (despite being very busy) could squeeze the 2 of us in (we had to sit at a sofa with a low coffee table which was difficult to eat a meal from because all higher tables were taken) and cook us some vegan breakfasts. They weren't very imaginative (we would have loved some faux black pudding, or maybe some avocado or tofu scramble) but they were cooked quickly, hot, tasty, and vegan, so we certainly couldn't complain! They had plant milk for hot drinks too.
