Great vegan brekkie

Good choice of vegan options including oatcakes breakfast which both my wife and I enjoyed. Reasonably priced. Small extra charge for oat milk. Good range of drinks and cakes.

Good lunch option with vegan menu

Great place for a sandwich, panini, jacket potato and oat cakes. They even have some vegan pastries 🥐

We were looking for a small lunch time meal, as we knew we were headed for Lick for dessert and this was the perfect choice.

Pros: Full vegan menu, Staff are diligent , Nice place to relax for lunch

Cons: Bit on the expensive side for a sandwich , Can get crowded at busy times.

Vegan menu

Whole vegan menu. While basic, if you want a sandwich or panini, it totally hits the spot.

Mocktails were also delicious.

Decent

Good grub but nothing special breakfast wise - one vegan breakfast option (full English) which consisted of Richmond sausage, bacon, baked beans, tomato, toast and mushrooms (tbf the mushrooms were a solid 10/10)

There did seem to be a lot of vegan lunch options, I had a look at the vegan cakes (apricot cake or raspberry croissant) - the croissant appeared to be the same one that’s sold in the co op…

Staff also seemed overstretched as the cafe was quite busy.

All in all nice breakfast grub but could have thought outside the box a bit more!

Pros: Nice food , Mushrooms

Cons: Food was basic, Staff overworked/ slow service

Full vegan menu

There were loads of vegan options here. I had the Derbyshire oat cake with vegan cheese and tuna and it was really cracking. It also came with some complimentary coleslaw. There was at least one vegan cake, but I didn't try it. The staff were friendly too.

Pros: Range of options, Good value, Vegan tuna

5 stars basics done well

Fantastic food here and lots more vegan options than other places in Bakewell. Vegan oatcake breakfast was fantastic and service very quick even on a sunny Saturday

Gone down hill

Previously this had always been a really nice cafe. We always came here on our trips to Bakewell, but unfortunately yesterday will be our last.

The place is relatively small, so it does get busy due to limited space. The menu is pretty good, standard cafe food, plenty of vegan and vegetarian options to choose from.

Now here comes the bad parts.. the staff never seem to crack a smile, they all seem like you being there is a small inconvenience (say for one lad who works there who is always super easy going and friendly)

Speaking of small, the portions are absolutely TINY. My sister got the vegan tuna sandwich, and the filling literally didn't even cover the bread. She asked if she could have some more as we assumed that it had been a mistake, but she was told "vegan tuna is expensive so that's all she puts on" - let's be real, over £8 for a single sandwich with next to no filling, a tiny pot of coleslaw and an uninspiring salad on the side? Absolutely ludicrous 🤦🏼‍♂️

Perhaps you think you'll just pop in for a coffee? In that case, be prepared to spend 40p extra if you want milk alternative in your drink. I know this is becoming the norm now, but it's a real bugbear of mine that I should have to spend 40p extra to not have cows milk in my drink!

They clearly make their business in passing trade being from a touristy place, so apparently they stopped caring about customer service and satisfaction a long time ago. It's a shame as it used to be so good!

Great vegan menu

We had paninis and oatcakes. They come served with salad and coleslaw. They have a range of fillings. The oatcake had plenty of filling (I had vegan tuna mayo and cheese). They also had breakfast, breakfast oatcake, soft rolls, jacket potatoes and cakes. Also plant milk for coffees

Pros: Dedicated vegan menu, Range of fillings

Cons: Think the soya milk cost extra

Great breakfast

All your plant based milks were available.
Plenty of vegan and veggie options on the menu. I had the vegan oatcake brekky; 2 vegan sausages, 2 vegan bacon, mushrooms, cheese spinach on an oaty pancake thing. Loved it. Would eat it every day if I could
Breakfasty stuff: sausage and bacon sandwich, veggie and vegan full breakfast, oatcake breakfast
Non breakfasty stuff: plenty of sandwich and panini fillings. Vegan cheese and tomato, tuna melt.
Homemade vegan cake was available too! (Almond and apricot, very yummy)

Pros: Milk alternatives, Plenty of veggie and vegan options, clearly label, Friendly staff!

Great Little Find

Apparently I'm not allowed to give this place five stars because it's not fully vegan but....
They have a vegan section in the menu, plant milks, the food was great and the service was exceptional so...I'm giving it five!
The 'tuna' was the best I've ever tasted by a very long way and you can get Staffordshire oatcakes despite being in Derbyshire!

Pros: Vegan section, Plant milks, The 'tuna' mayo!

Great vegan options

We used to love coming here years ago before we went vegan so we were very pleasantly surprised by the new vegan menu which had really good options. The vegan breakfast is reasonably priced and delicious!! It's just a shame they charge for alternative milks and don't have a vegan hot chocolate.

Pros: Plenty of vegan options , Choice of alternative milks, Good atmosphere

Cons: Extra charge for alternative milks , No vegan hot chocolate drink

Overpriced :(

I had an oatcake with vegan cheese and sun dried tomato. It was alright but thought it was very expensive for not much food (just one oatcake and an uninspiring salad). It didn't fill me up and elsewhere in Bakewell two oatcakes are standard.

Pros: They're trying, not many vegan options in Bakewell

Cons: Expensive , Limited options

Nice vegan breakfast

We were starving, and hungover, so it was brilliant to find somewhere that (despite being very busy) could squeeze the 2 of us in (we had to sit at a sofa with a low coffee table which was difficult to eat a meal from because all higher tables were taken) and cook us some vegan breakfasts. They weren't very imaginative (we would have loved some faux black pudding, or maybe some avocado or tofu scramble) but they were cooked quickly, hot, tasty, and vegan, so we certainly couldn't complain! They had plant milk for hot drinks too.
We also took some slices of takeaway vegan cherry Bakewell tart home with us, which were lovely.

Pros: Vegan choices available at all times, Friendly staff

Lovely food, vegan choices

Nice place. Small so had to order for takeaway but the panini I ordered still took a good twenty minutes to be made. Was very tasty though. Would have had the vegan breakfast if I could have got a table #Veganuary

Pros: A few vegan options

Cons: Serves meat, Small so may not get a table, Pricy for a takeaway sandwich

Pleasant surprise in Bakewell

Wonderful lentil wellington special. Oat milk for coffee. They were happy to remove bacon from a pannini. Good prices. Clearly marked items-also offer a vegan full english breakfast.

Clean and tidy. Covid 19 secure. Will visit again.

Pros: Excellent, fresh food, Vegan clearly marked.

Cons: Offers lots of animal products
