Great vegan fish and chips!

We have been twice and both times got the vegan fish and chips, thoroughly enjoyed both times! They have a few options and do vegan ice creams too! They were very happy to do a vegan affogato the first visit. The second visit I had the mint chocolate chip vegan ice cream. They had to check multiple times that it was the right one and it was obviously a little old as it was icey. Nonetheless enjoyable!

Pros: Vegan ice cream options, More than one choice , Always friendly

Cons: Would like more options!

Surprisingly Generous Vegan Options

Me, my partner and my dog stopped at the light house for lunch after a long walk to Hurst Castle and back. They had several options to choose from, however we settled for the vegan chocolate milkshake and vegan fish finger sub with coleslaw and tartare sauce.

Service was incredibly quick and we were amazed at the portion size of our lunch. We weren’t expecting anything huge (especially as we’re in a prime spot in the New Forest) however the sub was massive. The banana blossom fish had a lovely batter (not too oily) and it had the texture of fish. However, there wasn’t a “fishy” smell or taste, so you might be disappointed if that’s what you’re expecting.

Overall, staff were lovely, atmosphere was relaxing, our dog was relaxed and we went home with a full stomach.

Pros: Quality of food was expectional, Service was quick , Dog friendly

Cons: Can be expensive depending on what you order

Great vegan fish and chips!

My first time trying banana blossom fish & chips, I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was great! Menu also had a really good choice of vegan options generally. Overall a really nice and clearly very popular place — booking ahead recommended!

Good but

the food wasn’t that great, particularly for the price. My vegan “paella” main was more like a risotto and my sister likened it to soggy cardboard. That being said, the atmosphere was great and the staff were friendly and attentive. The plant platter was pleasant although overpriced. I think I may have chosen the wrong main and would be willing to come back again to try something else.

Pros: Friendly staff

Cons: Overpriced

I’ve never had banana blossom

There are at least 3 vegan options on the main meal menu. I had ‘fish’ and chips (made from banana blossom). Really enjoyed it. Healthy sized portions. Well presented. The whole menu has plenty of vegan options, including desserts.

Pros: Good size portions, Plenty of choice , Modern, bright ambience

Great food and location

Nice selection of vegan dishes. I went for the Banana blossom fish and chips which was good but perhaps could have done with some nori seasoning or something as it was a bit bland if not dipped into sauce. Impressed with the vegan deserts, there was churros and chocolate sauce or a biscoff sundae. So nice to not just have sorbet! Really nice location right on the seafront and nice vibe inside.

Great atmosphere

Lovely few options for vegans! I had the vegan fish and chips and unfortunately found I wasn’t a fan of banana blossom, however the batter, chips, vegan tartare sauce and dessert were delicious. Staff were lovely and drinks were also great!

Pros: A few nice vegan options , Lovely to be by the sea

Cons: Personally not a fan of the fish alternative

needs improving

vegan platter for starter with vegan fish and chips for main. felt like they were chosen by a non vegan - starter was an odd combination and main was tasteless.

Pros: great location, live music

Cons: bland vegan food

Pretty good!

Beautiful restaurant. Really lovely setting/location. Very classy decor. Perfect for a last night meal.
The food itself was nice, albeit a little pricey for what it was. We had the Hummus Sharer, and Vegan Fish & Chips. The sharer was lovely, but small for £8. The Vegan Fish & Chips were made from banana blossom, with chunky chips, peas and tartare sauce. They were nice, but not wrapped in Nori/marinated in nori, and didn’t taste fishy - Essentially, just battered banana blossom. But for some, this may be perfect as not every vegan wants the taste of fish. The drinks were lovely, although I couldn’t see if they had any plant based milks available. There were a good few vegan food options available, so it’s somewhere I would check out if you are down this way. Service was great!

Pros: Good selection of vegan options, Great cocktails, Beautiful location

Cons: A bit pricey, Fish and chips weren’t very ‘fishy’
