It's OK to be just OK - Edit
The spoon pubs are what they say on the tin, "PUBS". I have never gone into a spoon and hoped that I would be served Mitchelin star restaurant food. The Last Post is a local affordable pub that attempts to do it's best in very difficult times.
Read moreThe staff here can be pretty hit and miss with some that are very friendly and helpful while others are quite rude and get a strop on when you ask them to wipe your table down. They have a great selection of beers and ales at very reasonable prices and I have yet to see a review complaining that their prices are cheaper than all the other pubs.
Their food is OK, yes it may be heated in a microwave and is not as good as Gordon Ramsay. But, you get a drink and a plate of grub for between £5.50 and £10. Now that is exceptional. Although it is a chain and the owner may not be to your taste, it is a place I can afford to eat on a tight budget. They now do a Quorn vegan nugget wrap which is nice and comes with chips or salad, with a pint and is under £7, back of the throat.
The pub chain has a vegan menu, it puts all the calories on the menu for drink and food, it has a highly rated children's menu in terms of nutrition that outshines many other well known restaurants, a wide selection of beers and spirits (free mixers), was one of the first to offer service via an app. It is OK and I will continue to use the spoon as it serves my purpose.
Pros: Vegan options, Cheap and affordable, Serves the community
Cons: Inconsistent staff, Very busy at times, Occasionally rowdy

Nothing special - Edit
Southend is probably not quite ready for veganism yet as we struggled to find a place with options. We went in here and got a plate of hot food for a reasonable price. They had ran out of options but there were still options left. Very cheap.
