Best environment and vegan food in Hangzhou - Edit
Not only the staff is super friendly and attentive, the place is close to the emblematic and romantic West Lake, great spot for a stroll with fantastic views and history. They cook fresh their dishes, which are exclusively vegan. These are nicely presented, colourful and yummy, without any additives.
Read moreA fest for the senses in a nice location, which also has private rooms for tea ceremonies and a nice terrace with parasols, if it’s not too hot.
My fave vegan in Hangzhou in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Vegan Gourmet at it’s best - Edit
Definitely the best vegan restaurant I have ever experienced. The dishes were amazingly tasty and the selection very creative. Not only the usual vegan dishes but better, no you can see the chefs creativity to provide outstanding vegan dining experience. This restaurant deserves a Michelin star!

Top notch - Edit
Great food-including tasty vegan Chinese desserts - excellent service and a peaceful lakeside place to sit. Prices are higher but worth it for all of the above. Meal for two with dessert was about 250 rmb.

High-end experience - Edit
Of all the veggie/vegan restaurants in Hangzhou, The Lakeside Veggie is at the higher end of the scale. Located in a beautiful spot with a view of the gardens around the lake, this might not be a spot for those on a budget. Dishes tend to be more expensive than elsewhere, though the quality is very good. Lovely interior, very comfortable.
Read moreI went here with a friend and split six or so dishes between us. We found that the tom yum soup was especially good, but we had to remind the staff of our final dish, which they did forget. Also, not entirely sure if this restaurant serves beer; we didn’t see any listed.
Overall, very nice food in a very nice spot. Menu with pictures and some English.
Pros: Large menu, Good taste , Great location
Cons: A little pricey for those on a budget

Fancy and yummy - Edit
The atmosphere is more upscale for sure. I walked in wearing my denim shorts, sneakers and backpack ready to grab lunch before hiking and I felt out of place. The staff was incredibly polite and treated me super well as a patron regardless. I ordered a tofu pot with Yunnan mushrooms and cabbage. It wasn’t very big, nor did it have a much extra flavor, but something about the way it was cooked in a type of soy broth brought out the natural flavors of the veggies so I really enjoyed it. I also had the avocado salad which had some diced fresh tomato and really thin pieces of dried seaweed. It was good, but the dressing was absolutely SWIMMING in wasabi. If you’re sensitive to wasabi as I am, beware. It’s because of that salad that I ordered a side of rice, moved the veggies out and left as much of the dressing behind as I could. I think the amount of food that I ordered was perfectly satiating for one person. Don’t expect huge portions or endless menu options like lots of other vegan restaurants in China, but do expect quality food, great service, and a pleasant atmosphere which makes for a very nice dining experience. Also, it’s very easy to find this place. The marker seems to be right on target.

Small portions - Edit
This restaurant is well located, by the river walk, in a scenic area. The interior is design, the service is good and they speak English. The food is nothing fancy despite the pretty presentation, the portions are small, this restaurant is pricey for China.

The location is EXACTLY where the map shows.

Extensive menu with English.
Premises are huge, decorated, surrounded by walls
(Many Chinese Vegan restaurants are so big...
Guess they make enough profit...)
A must addition to your plans of strolling West Lake.

Fine dining by the lake, surrounded by the park. The structure is beautiful, with a court, tea room, little zen garden.. Dishes are nicely prepared and well presented (not too large portions).

Thumbs up - Edit
I'm a big fan of their restaurant in Shanghai, so I gave this one a try. The sweet and sour mushroom was good, though I'm tasting sweet and sour and fried batter and not much mushroom. The tofu in clay pot was pretty good but a little mushy for my taste, lacking the special flavor that it had in the Shanghai location.
Read moreThe restaurant itself has a fancy courtyard and looks really special, and while not on West Lake, is literally on a little pond right out the window as you dine, which is cool.

Delicious - Edit
Firstly the location is beautiful, restaurant ambiance is relaxing and service is great. Menu has many options which all look great! We had the curry and sweet & sour beancurd. The curry was divine with many different veggies and I think seitan "meatballs". The sweet & sour dish was delicious but a very small serving...

Lovely food, worth the money and the hassle finding it! - Edit
Ate lunch here this afternoon. Had a lot of trouble finding it as apple maps doesn't show the correct location. If you're using apple maps type in 'Linhu Vegetarian' - that will take you to the right place. It's a beautiful location, very tranquil and right on the water. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The menu is pretty varied, although the food is quite expensive but definitely worth it in my opinion. I would recommend the plain homemade tofu with dipping sauce and the veggie curry with mock meatballs, both were delicious, the curry was my fav and the favourite of my meat eating bf!

Nice place - Edit
It's such a nice place! The food is great, particularly considering the Hangzhou local cuisine, which I'm not a great fan of, well seasoned, made of fresh ingredients, best eggplant I had in years.
Read moreThe restaurant is tastefully decorated, the staff is helpful, honestly it is the only place I have been in Hangzhou, where I dare to take my western visitors, since the service is more in "European" style than in other local restaurants (including the "upscale" ones) .
A bit pricey, that's true, but, frankly, still on the cheaper side considering the prices in the restaurants around the Lake. We paid around RMB 400 for six course dinner with tea (which costs about RMB 60/person itself).
I have been there twice in two week and will definitely come again.
Pros: Great food!, Nice location, pleasant environment
Cons: It is not cheap in Chinese terms

Definitely worth a visit - Edit
Beautiful ambience. Lovely menu. Absolutely warm and friendly staff. We dined here today, which happens to be Mother's Day (14th May 2017). It might be due to this that they had run out of quite a few items, which was, to be honest, a tad disappointing. Was quite crowded. Despite this staff was still very attentive and all smiles.
Read moreWe had iced vegetables, basil eggplant, sweet and sour lotus root, mushroom daoxiao noodles, and Thai cucumber salad. (Please refer to photos.) All very fresh and beautifully presented. Taste-wise also satisfying, except for the Thai salad, which wasn't quite what we were expecting. Not bad, but maybe a little underwhelming. Another note about lotus root. I had been yearning for lotus root so ordered the iced vegetables as well as the sweet and sour lotus root. Sadly the iced vegetables had lady's finger instead of lotus root. The sweet and sour lotus root on the other hand was not what I wanted. Most people would love it though. Tasty and kind of addictive. Just that I wanted the taste of lotus root, but the sweet and sour theme kind of masked the original flavor of the lotus root. Still, this is one of their signature dishes, do try it.
At the end of our meal they served us their red and green bean cake as apology for not having quite a few items. What a lovely gesture! My husband found it just nice but for me a little too sweet. We felt that there was some milky taste so asked the staff if there was milk, to which she replied they don't use anything from animals, which is really a relief and which we really appreciate.

If you are following the apple map it might not be correct. Hopefully it will be updated soon. As a side note, for navigating in China, the app 高德地图 is more reliable than google or apple.
Edit on 16th May 2017:
Visited a second time today after a walk along west lake. Tried the curry, yunnan mushrooms, assorted bean sprouts/ seaweed/ bean curd, tonkatsu and almond sweet soup. Everything was truly wonderful. The yunnan mushrooms and almond soup stood out especially. We had to wait quite a bit for the almond dessert as it was freshly prepared. The taste was worth the wait, but the price! I wish there was more of it for that price...
Pros: awesome service , great ambience
Cons: a little expensive

Delightful vegetarian fare - Edit
I had a lovely dinner at the Lakeside Veggie this evening. The food was fresh and wonderfully flavourful. The quantity was just right for me (although some may think the portions are on the smaller side). The service was attentive and very polite. And the location itself is very nice, just off West Lake. I highly recommend Lakeside Veggie.
