TL;DR.. don't recommend for vegans - Edit
2 stars, because at least they have vegan meat options.
Read moreWe have been here three times in hopes that it would get better, and it has actually gotten worse it seems.
We tried the raved about rosemary fries our third visit. They were so salty, and just not good.
We have tried the vegan burger three times now, and the last visit they actually managed to burn it. When we cook Beyond Meat or Impossible Meat at home we can't even manage to get it that crispy, so this must require special skill. My husband had a piece of his burger fall off, and when he tapped it on his tray it sounded like something solid and inedible.
I got the vegan chicken and that was also burnt. I was hoping it would be the Gardein Ultimate Chick'N filets, but no. It was basic flavorless fake chicken that had the pleasure of tasting burnt on top of it all.
They have vegan options here, but they don't seem to know how to input them into their devices when ordering. We say the vegan burger and each time we are asked if we want the chicken, or the burger. It seems like the chefs see vegan listed on an order and think, "who cares how it's cooked or how it tastes, they're vegan!" Believe it or not vegans love flavor, and food that isn't burnt to a crisp.
We won't be coming back a fourth time, and I wouldn't recommend it to fellow vegans.

Hang 10 at The Kirby House - Edit
Walking into the Kirby House feels like walking into a 90’s surf shop. The restaurant leans into its beachy town aesthetic. The walls are covered in surfboards with cheeky posters on the wall. The whole ambiance gives a chill and relaxed atmosphere.
Read moreThere are a few vegan options on the menu. I settled on the cashew ckn stir fry. It was a mammoth of a bowl that was very filling, and it was a crisp and fresh choice for my beachside day.
I would recommend giving the Kirby House a try if you are visiting the beautiful downtown Grand Haven and looking for a restaurant that can appease everyone.

Nice to have options in Grand Haven - Edit
There are substitution options up the wazoo - I mean, I doubt you can substitute a Gardein Chikin patty for use in their fried chicken sandwich, but I suppose you could ask. There are straight up vegan dishes, vegan cheese for their pizza and a litany of other dishes that can substitute a Beyond patty for beef and a Gardein Chikin patty or tenders. I had their biggest overall selling dish - vegan cashew chicken stir fry. Order it light on the sauce in case you don’t enjoy loads of sauce.

Cons: Meals are huge; didn’t even look at dessert

Poor , it’s like they didn’t even try. - Edit
Went for the burrito and made it vegan, mostly white rice, not Spanish and they threw chunks of a vegan meat patty in . Just don’t. Truly no effort put into this dish.

Great selection of vegan and veggie options - Edit
The cauliflower steak was really good. Fried with a balsamic reduction. Most plates here can be substituted with vegan options.

Notable Grand Haven location with vegan options - Edit
I ordered the stuffed acorn squash and it was delightful, made me think of Thanksgiving. My SO order the Thai lettuce wraps with plant based chicken. The waitress was very patient and knowledable about the options and would ask the kitchen to make sure everything was made vegan.

Cons: Expensive, Not super creative , Lack of plant based protein in fully vegan options
