Good for vegetarians - Edit

We had a really nice meal here: two ovo/lacto vegetarians, one vegan and two omnivores. I'd say the veggie menu is great - both the (homemade) veggie burger and pasta rotolo were really tasty, and the puddings were amazing (sticky toffee highly recommended). The vegan options were only OK though. We happened to be there on steak night, and while initially really impressed that there was a vegan 'steak' option (romanesco cauliflower, pretty decent), there wasn't a single vegan pudding in the end except sorbet (though the two flavours on offer were, admittedly, delicious-sounding and the one we had was tasty).

Don't get me wrong; we had a very enjoyable time here and it's great to see a pub (usually the *least* vegan-friendly of places to eat out) making such an effort to cater for different diets. I just think there's the potential to be really great for vegans too!

Pros: Veggie menu, Lovely atmosphere, Friendly service

Cons: Could do better with vegan options

Hidden Vegetarian Gem. - Edit

This superb pub/restaurant is on the road out of Newent west towards the M50 (and nowhere near the location on the HC map ! ) It has a separate vegetarian menu with seasonal, high class dishes. Apart from the standard veggie menu they do pre-order specials. We had the roast celeriac drizzled in truffle oil, with roast parsnips, creamed chestnut mushrooms, saute'ed new potatoes, and braised red cabbage. It was genuinely delicious. Freshest ingredients beautifully combined by a talented chef. Only £22 for two !
PLUS they have a good range of craft beers and ciders and a good wine list. We had the beautifully complimentary English white wine from the 3 Choirs vinyard just around the corner. The whole package was heavenly. On the night we attended there was live acoustic music.
The pricing is not cheap, but is very good for a dining experience of this quality.
