My husband and I came here for our anniversary. I’m a longtime vegan and he is a big meat-eater. This place was the perfect compromise because he got exactly what he wanted on the steak front and I was able to find a proper vegan meal. I got the vegan meatloaf and it was quite delicious and very filling. The service was also excellent and they had good cocktails.
Overall, I had very mixed feelings about adding the Keg as an option on Happy Cow (about 4ish years ago), I was only there once, and I would never recommend it as a standalone option to my vegan or vegetarian friends. At that time there were less vegan options available in most places because it was before the beyond meat boom, and general increase in plant based options. However I chose it to add it (and the however is important), because we need to have compassion for those that do not share our beliefs and respect their choices. A very good friend had a birthday party here, I had a snack ahead of time intending to have a water and whatever app they could modify so it wouldn't be weird or disrespectful to my friend. But when I asked about vegan options, they had a decent looking vegetarian option that could be made vegan so I ordered it. Afterwards, I was approached by the supervisor who asked for my feedback and showed genuine concern for the quality of the dish, and asked if it was something I would want to eat as a vegan or if it was merely a case of availability. As much as I don't want to promote a Steakhouse, and I am certainly not in general, I did appreciate that he seemed genuinely concerned in having a good option for our community, so I added it... and have also felt super weird about it ever since when I check the app for listings. Thought a little back story might help for the curious about how this ended up here. I definitely don't recommend it for general purpose dining for obvious reasons, but if you have a family/social obligation that leads you here, there is a tasty option that might allow you to join in without having to park your all of your values at the door (depending on your tolerance for being around that much meat)
