Lovely pub with great vegan options

We love the Jackdaw! It’s such a pretty pub located in a lovely village. They have some great vegan options on the menu, which are clearly marked so you know exactly what you are ordering.

We love the garlic oyster mushrooms to start, the sauce is delicious. I recommend getting the bread with it so you can mop up the leftover sauce, it’s that good! There are 3 main course options, ‘fish’ and chips, a saag aloo pakora burger and beetroot wellington. We have had them all and they are all really good. The chef puts a lot of thought into the dishes, and there is a real depth of flavour in the food. Even the side salad is interesting with lots of different veggies, roasted cauliflower and beets.

They have yummy crumble for dessert, which changes regularly. It’s served with vegan ice cream and is a great way to finish your meal.

The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Hannah is absolutely lovely, and really looks after us every time we visit. It’s a great pub and we can’t recommend it enough!

Pros: Great vegan options, Delicious food, Lovely atmosphere and staff

Supernice

Nice vibe, good options, great Sunday lunch!

The Jackdaw is a nice country pub that has put a lot of effort into their vegan options, with lots of pub grub staples such as a full vegan roast complete with Yorkshire puddings and battered banana blossom with chips, as well as lighter options. On my first visit I had the avocado and vegan bacon sarnies and that was tasty. On my most recent return I had the three course vegan Sunday lunch which was excellent - crispy potatoes, decent amount of veg and a good nutroast. There's also a butternut squash and beetroot wellington option. Of course the most impressive thing is the vegan Yorkshires! So nice for a pub to put in the effort - they're not massively hard to make (I do them at home all the time) but they're something most omnivores would think are impossible so it's great that a non-vegan pub goes above and beyond to try new things, it really makes it worth travelling to. Dessert options on the menu were a crumble or ice cream, but they let us know they can veganise the affogato by swapping the biscotti with crumble topping and that worked nicely!

The bar area is dog friendly and there are some really nice walks in the area, and it's right on the 16 bus route so that was a plus for us as it makes for a very nice afternoon out.

Do book ahead, especially for Sunday lunch, as it's a popular choice so is often fully booked! They also do events so It's worth checking ahead to make sure the full menu will be available.

Fantastic vegan food, dog friendly, lovely!

Lovely food here, vegan options for all three courses, we had falafel bites to start, moving mountains burgers and apple tart with fruit and vegan ice cream, it was delicious, by far the best vegan food we have had out in a long time and definitely the best vegan food locally to Folkestone. Our little cockerpoo Rollo was made very welcome, theres a lovely garden outside and the covid safety measures are to a very high standard. The most surprising thing was the knowledge of the staff in terms of veganism, very impressive. We will definitely return and cant recommend high enough!

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Knowledgeable staff, Lovely garden and Dog friendly
