Basic cafe with surprisingly good vegan options - Edit
Firstly, let’s not mince our words: The Hut is a fairly basic cafe in an area of Quarteira that isn’t exactly the prettiest, being below street level which means no views of the beach or sea. That’s pretty-much where the negatives end though.
The staff are lovely and understand veganism, and there are several choices on the menu. I opted for the large vegan full English breakfast which was HUGE! What you get in your breakfast very much depends on what they have in stock that day. Mine contained: sausages, burger-bites, veggie fingers, breadcrumbed faux chicken strips, mushrooms, beans and toast. It might sound like an eclectic mix of foods but I very much enjoyed it. My partner had the vegan fish finger sandwich which was a little bland but perfectly acceptable. They didn’t have vegan mayo or anything like that so we were limited to ketchup and brown sauce when it came to condiments, which was fine.
They had plant-milk Dolce Gusto pods so I was able to have a nice coffee. They didn’t have any actual plant-based milk in cartons though so we couldn’t have tea.
We enjoyed our food at The Hut and will definitely be back. If you do go, bear in mind that they are CASH ONLY. There is an ATM just around the corner though.
Delicious vegan breakfast in a small or large size. English owner who understood vegan request perfectly and had vegan options clearly labelled on the menu. Not the most traditional English breakfast I’ve ever had as came with falafel and veggie fingers but non the less was delicious
