Vegan Paradise

We’re so happy there is a 100% vegan eatery in KL. It’s a blend of modern western soul food and traditional tastes and flavours from Malaysia.

100% plant based. Taste very good.

We got the 80MYR sharing platter. It was massive. Enough to feed 2-3. “Fried chicken” was delicious!

Pros: Range of meals, Epic taste, All vegan and mad vibes

Cons: Service wasn’t the best!

Nice location, food was okay

While I loved the location and drinks, I thought the food was rather average. Had a mimosa, the fried cheeken, a burger and had a good time. Though it was quite busy while I was there, food and drinks were served quickly and staff was very attentive.

Wow

If there were an Asian Champion’s League of cruelty free restaurants, these guys would deserve a place. Excellent food and cocktails. Great ambience and vibe. And right smack in the middle of China town. What’s not to love? I preferred their western food items- especially the burgers- to the local ones but you should try them all for yourself. Desserts were great, but when in doubt go for the chocolate tart.

wish i could have gone again

there’s so many amazing looking things in the menu, but as i was by myself i could only get so many.

everything i tried was awesome. the tempeh fries were creamy and the sauces flavorful. the soup was tasty and the satay were also great.

the cake was really unique and im really glad i tried it. the only disappointing thing was they had durian ice cream listed on the board but they told me that they don’t sell it anymore. i would have really liked to have had it.

if you’re alone maybe dont expect the best service, it seems like they focus more on the big groups and leave the other people kind of to their own devices. however, my server was very kind. i could feel that others there might not be so kind? but that’s what you get sometimes !

anyway it’s very highly recommended to try here

A must visit!

Wonderful venue, fabulous service and then there’s the food, among the best we have ever had the pleasure to eat. Arancini balls were plump and tasty, the fried cheeken were crisp and plentiful with a moorish dip but Mama’s satay stole the show for me and I could have bathed in the satay sauce. Our lass had the truffle mac n cheez which was awesome and I opted for the nasi lemak, hot, spicy and well worth the chilli sweats!

Pros: Food, Atmosphere , Service

Great vegan food!!!

Stumbled upon this place when in search of some good vegan food and I was not disappointed! From the chic and cozy atmosphere to the plethora of vegan options, The Hungry Tapir was a great experience for me. I got the Roti Canai which was good - the roti was nice and crispy on the outside and chewy inside. The Dal was a little low in spices for Mt personal tastes but still delicious. The Truffle Mac and No Cheese was the best I've ever had. It was a flavor explosion from the first bite. The hedgehog mushrooms were perfect in it, and I usually don't enjoy mushrooms so I happily surprised. A lot of vegan Mac n cheese tends to have a super thick sauce that overpowers the meal. That was not at all an issue with this one! The sauce was complex in flavor while still creamy and light in texture. Another huge bonus of this place was that they offered keto options, which can often be hard to find in combination with vegetarian restaurants in my experience. I loved this because it allowed everyone in my group to find food that matched their dietary needs.

Overall, a super awesome restaurant in a lovely alley with lots of artsy installations nearby. This is a must-visit vegan spot in KL. I would go back in a heartbeat.

(Also be sure to check out their sister shop, La Gula which I believe is owned by the same person. Great vegan food there too!)

No disappointments!

Everything on the menu is incredible. We enjoyed plenty of cocktails, nibbles and mains as a group. Do not skip the tempeh fries! 🤤 brought non vegan friends and they want to go back on their own. The ambience is really fun for dinner and or a drink!

Cute restaurant, good ambiance and good entrees

We went on a fairly busy night and were lucky to be seated before it got busier.

We enjoyed the entrees and gobbled them up too quickly to take a photo but I was disappointed in the ramen as it was more of a noodle soup than a what you’d expect ramen to taste like.

Ordered:
Entrees:
Arancini balls
Mamas satay
Funky fish cakes

Mains:
Miso ramen
Nasi lemak

Service was great, however we wanted to tip everyone and the person who put or bill through ended up pocketing it. Not sure if this is cultural difference but we usually would expect the tip to be shared, especially since the person who pocketed the money didn’t serve us at all.

Superb

Hard to fault this place, the menu is extensive and everything we’ve eaten has been excellent. Mac n cheese deserves a special mention as does the burger in a pink bun, but seriously, everything is good and we can’t wait to return. Highly recommended.

Loved this place

Came here two days on the run and were impressed. Has a nice atmosphere, good service and delicious food. The soul food platter was the best, as well as the rose and pistachio cake. Enjoyed the cocktails. A cool place. It’s quite pricey but nice for somewhere special. Recommend booking a table if not a weekday. Only criticisms would be that some of the seats and table heights aren’t practical for eating off/are not comfortable and it’s a shame that they aren’t completely vegan (just a few veggie desserts I think). Also just a warning crisps mean crisps and not chips/fries

Chill vibes good food

A variety of typical malaysian dishes, Asian dishes and western dishes made vegan. Have been here twice - the laksa was excellent. Second time I had nasi lemak which was also good. Watch out for the spicy sambal! The interior decor and music has a very relaxing vibe.

The tea is expensive for just a teabag and a jug of hot water, was expecting fresh ginger for that price!

Pros: Local foods made vegan, Nice decor

Cons: Pricey for Malaysia

Amazing food and cocktails!

We went to the hungry tapir at weekend on a Saturday. We hadn’t made a table booking but found a spot on the bar which was big enough to order food and I was even more tempted by the cocktails! We ordered the fried chikn, the skewers and a bahn mi. All amazing and all delicious! They come with a few different dips as well. The staff were all very friendly and checked in to see if we were enjoying the food. Overall great experience and would fully recommend if you are in China Town in KL!

Pros: Cocktails, Sharing platters

Very good food and super nice location

My husband and I had lunch there. You almost miss it because it's quite hidden in the first floor of the building and there is only a small sign outside.
I had Laksa and my husband the LTLA, both was super tasty. The restaurant also looks super lovely with a lot of plants. It's a bit pricier thoughbut definitely worth it

Expensive but a nice place

It was 24 ringgit base price for my Burmese bahn mi with a side crisps (not a translation area they're genuinely crisps.) It was a decent sandwich but certainly not the best I've had in that price range - I can get a better bahn mi in Melbourne for that. The menu was quite fun and the cakes on display looked really good. I wouldn't necessarily discourage people from coming here but just beware it'll be Europe pricing.
