Disappointed but Willing to Try Again - Edit
I’ve had this spot on my radar for a few months and chose two of the holiday brunch specials. I will be going back after the holiday season and trying core menu items. Here are my thoughts:
Read morePancakes: mocha was too bitter for my taste; would have preferred chocolate chips in addition to balance out flavor, peppermint *only* in the whipped topping and maybe a bit of chocolate drizzle (mint cooked into the pancakes gave them a medicinal aftertaste but it was tasty in the whipped topping)
Grits: watery and slightly too gritty
Potatoes: crispy; boring/bland flavor; will try to order with onions and peppers next time
Biscuit: bacon/egg/cheese were tasty; biscuit was too crumbly; perhaps on an English muffin instead? I think the crumbly texture of the biscuit would be better suited with sausage gravy

Pros: Free parking , Free coffee, Nice seating options (indoor and outdoor)

What a cool, quirky food/bar spot! The ambiance is great and the food and drinks are EXCELLENT! The Philly and fries were OUTSTANDING, and the hush puppies were great, too! Got their seasonal Fallgarita as well and couldn’t be happier. If you want some vegan grub in Columbia, this is the place. Look no further! ❤️

OMG the burger cheese fries! - Edit
Love the cocktails, the decor, the appetizers, but the bomb is the burger fries! They have a variety of different burgers, but instead of getting it on a bun, you can get the toppings on cheese fries! 🤯 Where has this been all my life?! Amazing!

A friendly crowd and staff - Edit
So many good vibes from the jump! We grabbed some takeout after a long day and we're not disappointed. Hush puppies for snacking on the ride while the Hoot as a poke' bowl and Shroom Mac made our tummies happy while watching a movie. We will be back for brunch.

It's Wise to Dine at "The Hoot" - Edit
When recently in town for a family function, I discovered this plant-based/vegan restaurant & bar via the HappyCow app. Upon arriving at the restaurant, hubby and I were immediately drawn in enter the restaurant & bar by the sign before the double door entrance.
Read moreUpon arriving, we were relaxed by the cool music playing into the restaurant, seeing a pinball machine and appreciated seeing a variety of seating options including short and long tables, booths, and outdoor seating.
After reviewing the menu, hubby and I approached the bar to order and hubby informed the employee of his nut allergy which let to her asking kitchen staff what menu items contained nuts. The employee quickly returned and informed us that menu items that included nuts were the boiled peanuts and the kale salad.
Having reviewed the menu, we decided to order hush puppies with chipotle-brown sugar butter (which I haven't had since I became vegan in 2009,) a "Philly Sando" with french fries for me, a "Burger Bob" burger with tater tots for hubby, and an order of "Shroom Mac & Cheez" to spilt. While waiting for our to go order to be completed, we decided to enjoy two non-alcoholic mocktails on a "Haystack" for me and a employee create drink called "A Pocket Full of Sunshine."
As I sat at a table and enjoyed my mocktail, hubby had fun playing the "Swords of Fury" pinball machine. In less than ten minutes, our drinks were finished and to go order was delivered to us. Upon returning to our rental condo, we opened up food boxes and we delighted by what we saw.
The hush puppies were perfectly crispy on the outisde and moist on the inside. Although I was expecting for the butter dipping sauce to be overpowering, it provided the perfect amount of heat to the hush puppie's
sweetness.
The Philly sando was flavorful and the fries were hot and crispy. Hubby raved about the Burger Bob and said the tater tots were were done. The shroom mac & cheez had a good balance of flavor and cheeziness however, I would have loved it to have had even more mushrooms (but that's cause I really love mushrooms.)
After such a delightful to go dining experience, the next time we're in the area, we will definitely plan to have a dine in experience to better enjoy the chill atmosphere, electic decor, delicious food, and friendly staff.
Pros: Friendly staff, Non-alcoholic mocktails, Delicious Regional Food

Great Brunch - Edit
I went for brunch and enjoyed it very much. I tried the pancakes, the chikn biscuit, and the Rosewood Wreck. The chikn biscuit was plain and not great, but everything else was fantastic. The Rosewood Wreck was flavorful, and the pancakes were perfectly fluffy. They also had a bit of cinnamon, which I loved. The service was friendly and the coffee was free!

Amazing food - Edit
I’ve been several times and it’s my favorite vegan scene in Columbia the drinks are great I do wish they had sweet tea 😆 but yeah food is always on point. It is somewhat hidden and hard to find the first time if you’re at Publix the entrance is straight across behind the gas station! 🦉

Might be spoiled… - Edit
I wanted this place to be so much better than it was. Maybe I’m spoiled by the area I live in and the food I’ve tried, but this place just wasn’t very good. I tried the pretzel sticks and cheesesteak. Neither was particularly good and the sandwich was reminiscent of something that had been microwaved (warm on the outside, napalm on the inside)

Great new option in Columbia - Edit
So happy this place opened. Ate with three omnivores. We got the Pickle and Olive plate, Black-eyed pea hummus, and hush puppies to begin with. They were all great but the hush puppies stood out. I got The Hoot Sandwich and it was excellent. Two of us got the veg-fil-a sandwich and one person got the nachos. Everyone raved. It was great. More of a bar atmosphere but the food was excellent. Can't wait to go back.
