Great Vegan B&B - Edit
We came here to visit the sanctuary ( which I highly recommend to do) but our stay at the affiliated guest house was an additional pleasure. The entire first floor was a spacious common area for the three guest rooms upstairs. The kitchen was well stocked with “help yourself” provisions. Fresh fruit, lots of fresh muffins and a fridge full of vegan provisions ( milks, cream cheese, butter, juices, oatmeal… ). We stayed in the suite which also had it’s own kitchen and living room. All great !!!

Perfect! - Edit
Our stay at the Homestead was absolutely perfect. Michelle is an incredible host. She was generous and kind and did everything to make our stay so wonderful. The house is immaculately clean, I mean spotless, something that’s very important to me. The food was incredibly delicious and bountiful. The house is a beautiful home that should be on the register of historic places. And then, there’s the animal sanctuary itself. We got to meet such wonderful, loving animals who are now in a safe space and receive love and all the care they need. This is a vegan and animal lovers paradise, as well as a beautiful place to stay for people who enjoy a clean, incredibly well appointed historic home.

Warm, inviting, amazing breakfast - Edit
We love staying at The Homestead- we’ve stayed in the Rambo room and the Samson Suite - we even rented the entire Homestead for when we got married and hosted our wedding reception inside. The decor is perfect and inviting. The breakfast in the AM is always plenty and delicious - Alex fed us well! We had waffles on day one and French toast day day two! Coffee is delicious and all the fixings galore! Comfortable, kind, and clean sums it up! Day passes to walk the grounds are awesome and is how we started each of our days!

A vegan B and B! Stayed her when I came to the animal sanctuary and loved coming down to a vegan breakfast in the morning. We were in one of the suites , and it was spacious but cozy and inviting. The staff is extremely friendly and answered any questions we had.

Best B&B - Edit
We absolutely love The Homestead! It has become one of our favorite places. Erica, the manager, is warm and friendly and makes you fee like family. If you are looking for a vegan B&B in this area, it is perfect. Clean, friendly, great vegan breakfast, and you can bring your dog!! If you are not familiar with the Catskill Animal Sanctuary, you are in for a huge treat! It has become our Happy Place!! Check out their web site! There are also several great vegan/veg-friendly restaurant options in the area.

Staying at the Homestead is a great way to visit the Sanctuary, and a pleasure in its own right. We had the private suite, which includes a kitchen and private bath. I could have stayed forever! It was lovely to meet other guests over home made vegan breakfast. We paid extra to join a tour of the sanctuary on our first day, and went down again to watch the animals get their breakfast on day 2. All the staff and volunteers made us feel very welcome and were open to any and all questions about the animals and their philosophy (including veganism). I think they are doing excellent work. On their recommendation we went to the Garden cafe in Woodstock for a late lunch, which was perfect.

The only qualm we had was that only the suite has a private bathroom. If that matters to you, you'll have to pay a bit more. Otherwise it's shared between the other 3 or 4 rooms.

Perfect Vegan Wonderland Get-Away! - Edit
We had the most amazing weekend at The Homestead, Catskill Animal Sanctuary's B&B! Even before we arrived Erica, the manager, was so considerate and kind, and the minute we arrived, she was so welcoming and gracious. I have a gluten sensitivity, and would have been happy to make do with oatmeal, but in addition, Erica went out of her way to make the most scrumptious Best Ever GF Banana Bread and get GF toast for us. The rooms were beautiful, clean and spacious - we stayed in the Sampson suite but any of the rooms except the Dino Room would have been a treat. Its such a cozy old house, yet with all the luxurious touches that make you feel so well cared for. And for those with allergies, its spotlessly clean, doesn't use down and there are no cats in the B&B (there are plenty at the sanctuary to the delight of our daughter!). We were also visiting with our three year old and I was a little concerned that she might be a bit loud or annoy people - instead, Erica was beyond sweet with her and made sure to take special care of her and when we did our private tour, Erica tailored it especially for a 3 year's wandering interests. And what a tour! We loved meeting all the animals, getting in and snuggling sheep and pigs and petting the wonderful donkeys, goats and horses. The bands of roving goats and sheep are beyond cute, and the goats followed us everywhere! The whole spirit of CAS is one of welcoming, compassionate kindness and that spirit envelops you wherever you go on the property - both at the Homestead and the Sanctuary itself. We had the incredible good fortune of meeting Kathy Stevens, the founder of CAS, and its easy to see that that spirit begins with her. We had a wonderful time! Also, there is fantastic food very close by and lots to see and do. With a three year old, we mostly stuck close to the animals, but we can't wait to return and explore many more of the area's interesting sights! Its an extraordinary place and should be on every vegan family's short list of fun things to do! I wish I could give it 6 cows because it is so superlative!

CAS' Homestead is Great!!!! - Edit
It is so difficult for me to choose just one aspect of my stay that was most enjoyable. Everything was wonderful! Erica's hospitality (and her awesome vegan cooking!); the cleanliness and welcoming atmosphere at The Homestead; meeting Kathy Stevens and having her sign my copy of her book, "Animal Camp,"; and most of all: meeting the residents of Catskill Animal Sanctuary - beautiful souls, each and every one of them!!!

Fantastic Hotel! - Edit
We absolutely loved our stay at the Homestead. Our room was beautifully decorated and the house was very well kept. Erica, the co-manager, was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. For breakfast Erica made a tofu scramble and waffles, which was one of the best vegan meals we've ever had. We'll definitely be back soon!

An Awesome Experience - Edit
We loved our stay at the Homestead. The guest house is beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Erica made us feel welcome and cooked delicious vegan pancakes in the morning. We were lucky to be able to join the founder Kathy on a private tour of the sanctuary which was just amazing. Getting to meet the animals and hear their individual stories really touched us. We were happy to help support the loving care of the farm animals and the people who make it happen. It was an amazing experience and we highly recommend it.
