Hits the spot! - Edit
Had the banana blossom & chips with vegan tartare sauce. Delicious! Banana blossom is definitely my favourite fish substitute and they nailed it here. Crispy and perfectly coated batter with well seasoned banana blossom. Vegan tartare was a winner too.

Would give 5 stars if possible! - Edit
Best vegan fish and chips I’ve ever had. I personally prefer the blossom to the tofish but that’s just down to personal taste. Cool little restaurant, with hip hop decor and a relaxed vibe. Can’t bang on about how good the “fish” is enough!

Vegan fish and chips - Edit
Loved the banana blossom 'fish' and the curry chips! The taste was awsome and everything felt freshly made and well seasoned. The vegetarian pie looked good too, the gravy was freh and the sauce delicious.

Amazing! - Edit
Highly deserving of 5 stars if it was possible to give. We live in Dorset but come to Manchester a few times a year to visit my husband's family. We first tried the Hip Hop Chip Shop at GRUB food fair last year and I have been fantasizing about it ever since! Serves fish and meat to keep any carnivorous companions happy, battered halloumi, and two vegan options of battered sausage and vegan fish. Chips, onion rings and battered pickles are vegan, along with the gravy, curry sauce and mayo. Portions are food coma inducing and excellent value (even more so this month with the Eat Out to Help Out scheme). Do not visit Manchester without coming here, but come hungry! :D

Best Chips in Manchester - Edit
I would have given 5 stars if I could. I've not had chips like these since my mum and Gran made them. I had vegan fish ans my son had battered sausage then we split. Both great and huge portions i was gutted to leave some chips. Looking forward to going again.

Great Chips, Great Place - Edit
This is a superb little chip shop. Not all vegan but their deep fried goodes are delicious.
Read moreThe atmosphere is funky and unique.
One thing I didn't love, they have a Battered Sausage which I thought I'd give a go, but it turned out to be a chorizo (flavoured) one. I've nver had a regular chip shop battered sausage but that wasn't what I was expecting (I was expecting more of a weiner style), and the menu didn't mention it (and it just so happens that Chorizo is a flavour I really can't abide). So perhaps veering from tradition a bit (not a bad thing) but without specifying it on the menu,
Pros: high quality, atmosphere
