Neighborhood feel with food to match - Edit
This place is cute for the location, and I like that feeling. It doesn't feel pretentious, and that wouldn't match here anyhow! The service is real and personable. The decor is laid back, as is the ambiance. When you walk in, you're greeted and can see some of the daily baked offerings.
This place is pretty veg friendly considering where it's located - it's not super Metro friendly or in a high traffic area. They have fries, veggie sides, a hummus sandwich, a tofu sandwich, some salads and a vegan gyro. All these choices can be vegan, and they are pretty filing. However, if you are hoping to feel like you had a health meal after a sandwich here, think again. Lots of flavor and oil, but if you know what to expect, you won't be disappointed. If you are ordering fries, what do you expect? If you order sautéed veggies, what do you expect (i.e. not steamed).
The fries are freshly made, but, they aren't as crispy as I'd like. The gyro was loaded with fake meat (seitan-style), eggplant, golden-brown onions, and vegan mayo, along with fresh spinach (better than lettuce!), cucumbers and tomatoes. I appreciated the fresh veggies in contrast with the rich seitan and mayo. The bread was fab, though it was white flour.
Because it's not a veg*n restaurant, it can't get 4 out of 5, since it's starting at 4. So, for what it's doing, I like it, and I appreciate this business! The prices are moderate for a local business. Be happy you are supporting a local business!! They are good people!
Pros: Vegan friendly, Satisfying & filling, Service & ambiance
Cons: Slightly greasy
