Cafe Permanently Closed per Management - Edit
We used to eat at the cafe periodically, but it always was iffy whether it would be open or have the food advertised.
Read moreAs for the store, it never seems clean to me, and I’m unwilling to purchase things there.

Prejudice - Edit
Read moreI have been going to the heritage store ever since they were closer to Nicks seafood restaurant. Since, they have moved to their new store, I have been racially profile. There is one particular woman, who always watch one particular race, which includes myself. I was ask tonight to show my id and the back of my credit card. Mind you, I never been asked that before, as long as I have been patronizing their establishment. This is to say that, if I'm approach like that again, no telling what might happen. I think in 2024 old ass people would just give up, and realize, people work just like they do, and can afford to purchase things, like everyone else. Believe me, they do not want our dollars!! Just put a sign on your door, and say we don't want your kind here!! That's how ignorant, this old witch is blatantly showing, every time you come inside the store.
Pros: Best loose leaf teas
Cons: Always watch a certain race is being watched

Melanated people's money not appreciated here - Edit
I have frequented the store for years to buy bulk herbs and crystals, however, in the past few, the old lady with the long hair that works there has falsely stated to the other employees that I either tried to steal or have stolen, which is untrue. Now, every time I go in, I'm followed and watched closely. I have noticed that other people of color are followed also, but none of the white patrons are targeted. I called and complained to the manager, to no avail. If you are of color and need herbs, visit Herbal Farmcy in Norfolk or buy online at Mountain Rose. For crystals, shop at Beads n Rocks in Virginia Beach, Edgar Cayce ARE, or online.

Best Black Bean Burger I Ever Had - Edit
The Heritage Natural Market Cafe has plenty of vegan choices, but I've only tried the build-your-own veggie burger because it's so good I can't not order it. They let you pick as many toppings as you want, and I have them pile on lettuce, tomato, spinach, avocado, and sauteed mushrooms (plus mustard and ketchup). The burger and bun are delicious, and the whole thing is a masterpiece. The vegan creamy pasta salad is a divine accompaniment. Everything tastes fresh and healthy and delicious.

Fantastic Options - Edit
Heritage Market and the Cafe in the back is a fantastic find for vegetarians and vegans staying or living in Virginia Beach. The market has a good selection and the cafe in the back served a decent variety of vegan options. Very welcoming for vegans on vacation. They have an especially good vegan macaroni salad. I had several interactions with different employees and they were all overwhelmingly friendly and helpful.
