Lovely lunches

I am still dreaming about the roast cauliflower ciabatta I had at the Hepworth last week! Decent range of vegan options on the menu, as well as hot drinks and cakes. Good big portions at a decent price, in an airy cafe with big windows and friendly, efficient staff.

Pros: Decent range of hot & cold vegan options, Lovely views overlooking the river at some tables

Cons: Bit noisy when busy - hard surfaces & big space

Lack of vegan choice

Definately need to add more vegan options to the menu. Otherwise, it's a great cafe & spot for a light breakfast.

Pleasant surroundings with great tasting food

Situated in the marvellous Hepworth gallery the cafe has a wide range of vegan offerings. All clearly marked and imaginative. Plant based milks available as well. I only had the warm carrot and fennel salad but it was wonderful. Lots of flavour. I did see several of the other vegan options being brought out and they all looked great. Parking expensive but park around the corner in the retail shops and walk over for free entry to museum.

Pros: Good selection of vegan options , Pleasant atmosphere and surroundings , Vegan cake

Cons: Parking expensive

Disappointed

The Hepworth cafe was a massive let down for me. Myself and my husband arrived and managed to find a free table. It really did feel like the canteen at my school. It was very loud and rammed with people as a visiting coach load had just arrived.

I remained at the time while my husband went up to ordered. As a non-vegan he chose the pancakes and I had the avocado on toast. This is a safe option for me as there only seemed to be 3 vegan opinions on the menu, I think one was soup, so I was pretty limited for choice.

When the food arrived I thought they were bringing mine out in stages, I was wrong. I had one slice of toasted ciabatta which smashed avocado on it, garnish and some oil. That was it! My husbands pancakes on the other hand looked amazing! Three layers of fluffy pancakes that only just fit on his plate covered in lovely toppings. Here’s the kicker, mine was more expensive!!!!!

Needless to say I eat slowly to fill time and left hungry.

I will not be returning.

Cons: Tiny portions , Limited options , Loud school canteen style atmosphere

Popular cafe

Several vegan options which were clearly marked.
Various non dairy milk options including oatly.
I enjoyed my lunch very much.
The museum is light and airy like the cafe and has free admission.

Pros: Several vegan options, Spacious cafe

lovely spot

this is a really nice space with a few window seats overlooking the weir. the full vegan was very tasty and filling. there were a few vegetarian/vegan options although a little repetition across them. the gallery too is an interesting place.

Beautiful food, beautiful surroundings.

I had the ‘Full Vegan’ followed by a gorgeous Pistachio and Rose Bundt cake but there certainly other options on the menu available including at least one sandwich/wrap option.

Pros: Good options, Always at least one vegan cake option!
