Alright - Edit
I've been a few times and not that impressed:
Green Mack Burger - Way too much sauce, it justs ruins the burger. Too soggy and falls apart. Just not good at all.
Peri Chicken pizza - the first time I had this pizza was amazing but now they use barbeque sauce as the base sauce which overpowers the flavour of everything else.
Bean Beef Nachos - Small portion for what you pay for. Meagre amounts of avacodo and what seems to be from a tube not fresh avo.
Pavola - Very nice!
Cons: overpriced

Slight disappoint this one time but still pretty good! - Edit
I went here today with my partner after last going with family members about a year ago. I had a really good meal the last time I was here so we drove 20 minutes especially just to come here.
I ordered the green mack burger and the loaded poutine fries. The fries were really good but the burger was kinda disappointing. The patties were only just warm and the bread fell apart because of how much sauce there was. I remember the special sauce tasting a lot better last time whereas today it was pretty bland.
This is probably subjective but I feel portion sizes are way too big. I hadn't eaten breakfast or lunch and was really hungry but still didn't manage to finish it which i hate :'(
I probably will return but next time I'll try something else apart from the burger. Another side note - a woman who I assume was the manager of the restaurant was right next to us talking about staffing issues, on the phone constantly which was a bit unprofessional and distracting.
Pros: Great fries, Friendly staff member who served us, Nice dining space
Cons: Lukewarm burger, Too much lettuce in bun that had gone soggy

Never disappoints - Edit
Best vegan food I’ve ever had. Controversial opinion but I think it’s even better than Soul Burger! I have taken many omni friends here and no one can deny the power of the Aussie Burger with the Lot. It has that something special. It is magical.
All the staff are always really lovely and friendly and there’s always a good vibe :)

Great vegan pub food - Edit
Loved this place! So great to find good vegan pub food. Whole menu is vegan. Great burgers, chicken schnitzel, pizza. We were amazed yet also kind of freaked out by the vegan egg which looked a lot like a real egg. Dessert was also delicious! Highly recommend this place!
Pros: All vegan menu, Great range on menu including pub classics

Delicious Vegan Pub Grub - Edit
I went here with another veggie and a meat-eating butcher! All loved it equally.
The food is mainly vegan versions of traditional pub grub like burgers, hot dogs, fish and chips, parmigiana, schnitzels etc.
I got the Buddha Burger, which was huge and delicious and my friends both got eggplant parmas, which were a hit.
We shared the Golden Gaytime cheesecake for dessert. Heaven!
Prices are really reasonable. The pub itself it a bit "old-fashioned" but there's a nice balcony for warm evenings and staff are friendly.

Great food to encourage non vegans too - Edit
I have been here numerous times and always with non-vegan family members.
Everyone has always enjoyed their meal and the non-vegans are blown away by how good vegan food can taste.
Always a winner in our family. We love the cosy pub atmosphere as well.
Pros: Delicious for Vegans and Non-Vegans alike, Comfortable/cosy in or light/airy on the balcony

Yay! Vegan pub grub! - Edit
Vegan food at a pub in Sydney - I never thought it was possible. But it is, and it was good!! Loved my chicken burger, the fries were great too, and it was also amazing to have pavlova again - I'd missed the humble pav since going plant-based. The mac cheese was a letdown though. Not enough macaroni, and too much vegan cheese/tahini tasting sauce. I couldn't eat more than 3 bites. I'd particularly been looking forward to mac cheese, so I was crushed. Also sad to see the stuffed lion at the back of the vegan dining area - probably a relic of the old pub before it opened the vegan food service, but, still... Loved the outdoor balcony seating, and fast food service. Laid back and easy dining. Will definitely be back!

the green lion - Edit
Had my first Vegan pub grub. Was lovely had an eggplant parmagianna, egg plant was batteted and fried served on a bed of chips topped with vegan 'bacon', tomato concasse on top and vegan cheese.$19.95. For dessert had a slice of cheese cake topped with passionfruit, scoop of caramel icecream and strawberry coulis and a fresh strawberry.$14 delicious.
Its upstairs of the Red Lion and has a lovely balcony for dining.
Highly recommend.

Blown Away - Edit
I was so impressed with this concept for being something totally unique to the vegan food scene. The idea of pairing a classic bar with vegan food is not something seen too often. We tried the "fish" tacos, the green mac and the "chicken" caesar salad and all of them were incredibly good. This is the type of vegan food you want to eat on your cheat day, but you don't have to feel all that guilty because its still vegan. I would definitely come back again and recommend it to anyone.

Fantastic - Edit
The Green Lion has fantastic food. We had the Aussie burger, peri peri chik'n pizza and seafood basket. All was very delicious, only thing was the hot chips werd very oily and i would prefer more sturdy potato feeling. If that makes sense lol. Otherwise very delicious & great comfortable environment to eat in.

my guilty pleasure - Edit
So I love the lasagne and poutine. I even get it delivered by Uber Eats. Not WFPB as there’s clearly mock meat happening but when I need some comfort food, this is my vegan happy place.
Pros: the omnivores Love it too
Cons: tired decor

The seafood basket! - Edit
I’ve taken my Omni family here numerous times and every time they leave impressed and with full bellies. It was the first time they’d tried plant based seafood and they loved it. I credit them with showing my mum that vegan food is great, enough so that she’s started her vegan journey 🌱

Great birthday spot - Edit
I celebrated my birthday here and it was perfect. Everyone was satisfied with their meal. I think amongst us we ordered everything on the menu and there were no complaints. I was loving the Big Mac personally. Cheap beer on tap at a vegan joint is also rare. So that's another big plus.

if vegan was a pub, it would be a green lion. - Edit
I bloody loved it here! I had the Aussie? Burger with poutine chips and oh my goodness it was bloody incredible!! My brother (Omni) had the bean nachos, and said it was dry, do extra gauc or biocheese would have been a great addition. His partner (vego) has the Mac and cheese who said it was tasty, but kind of dry and boring given what everyone else had. My son (vegan) had the kids nuggets and chips, he loved them, although I think thee could of been s couple more nuggets. We had 3 deserts between us: the choc brownie, pavlova, and cheesecake. The cheese cake was incredible as was the brownie and accompanying ice creams, the pav was delicious but perhaps had s bit too much coconut cream. Overall I can't wait to come back again!
Pros: vegan , beer , pub food

Processed taste - Edit
Was so excited when this place opened. Have been twice. Found the food tasted like it was highly processed. Nothing seems to be made from scratch. the ingredients all seems to come from a packet. The bacon on the Aussie burger was terrible & overpowering. The chips are not great. The price tag for such average food I found offensive.
Pros: close
Cons: Over priced, Bad taste

Great pub food - Edit
The Green Lion does vegan pub food and it does it very well. Sydney's Inner West has quite a selection of veggie/vegan eateries and it's nice to have a pub among them. I've been there a few times now and tried something different each time. The sloppy joe was great, the burgers tasty and firm enough not to ooze out of the bun when you start eating it, the nachos were plentiful and tasty and the curry was lovely. I haven't had a bad meal there yet. The service is friendly and quick and I'm planning my next visit.
Pros: Pub food - meat free, Friendly
Cons: Not cheap, but you get a fair bit for your money.

Good burger, good idea - but expensive - Edit
I'd been excited about coming to the (relatively) new vegan pub in Sydney and it was only a bus ride from where we were staying. After spending a while deciding what we wanted, we decided on the Aussie Burger with slaw (not chips) and the Sloppy Joe with chips (not slaw). The burger was absolutely delicious, with flavour in the patties, not just the sauces - in fact really what a vegan simulated-meat burger should be. But at over $23 - which can only be described as f&@%!# expensive - you'd hope so, especially as neither the burger nor the serving of slaw was huge. The sloppy Joe ($15) was fairly run-of-the-mill. The space was social and pub-like, but the bar relies solely on the vegan food to bring in punters, with no other drawcards. I was also a bit disappointed that not all the alcohol sold was vegan, relying on punters to know the difference. One more thing: to get here you have to walk through a bar with pokies (poker/slot) machines in it.
