Fantastic Vegan Food & Grocery - Edit

This venue is great for quality vegan food. They have veganised most of the modern Western foods. They do fantastic breakfasts with scrambled tofu!

Pros: Amazing vegan food.

Cons: Medium pricing.

Excellent - Edit

A proper place to get a proper feed. The staff make you feel at home. The menu has a good variety of dishes; full breakfasts, burgers, meals, desserts etc. All vegan.

Afterwards, you can browse the store to buy some supplies for when you get home.

It's always a treat.

Pros: Good food, Good value, Friendly atmosphere

Cons: Dishes can be oily

10/10 Must Go - Edit

Awesome all Vegan shop and cafe/restaurant. Has everything a Vegan could want. You could live in there and have all you need. All the Vegan alternatives and then some, plus a great selection of menu items for all meals of the day. If you are Vegan (or not) and have the option to go, you must!

Pros: everything and more

Cons: none

Has pretty much everything - Edit

So fun to see this place on the northside. Fab range of groceries particularly snacks and things that aren't available in the big retailers or health food shops. Everything is vegan so takes the label reading out which makes the experience more fun. Cafe is fab too - avoid busy times if you can as the kitchen is small and staff few but the food homey and tasty. It feels great to support this local business.

Fantastic - Edit

The cafe food never disappoints. Love the peanut butter milkshake and "meatball sub" even an onmi I took was raving about it after. The grocery store is a great place to pick up specialty vegan items. Owners and staff always ready to help. Only issue is I always spend so much due to getting to excited by the wide range of vegan treats. The groceries are expensive but as they are from overseas and the shop isn't a chain it's understandable.

Pros: Great food , 100% vegan groceries , Helpful staff

Cons: Expensive (but understandable) , Sometimes sell out due to high demand

Green goodies - Edit

Well stocked grocery store and all vegan cafe menu made it the perfect choice to take a non veg friend for brunch. She was highly impressed with her pancakes. They were sweet and fluffy and very generously sized. I ordered the mushroom scramble and unfortunately enjoyed that less. It was overly rich and lacked texture. Could have really used a side of vegetables to cut through the garlicky creaminess. Firm rather than silken tofu would have been my preference as well. Overall, still worth revisiting.

Vegan goodies hub ;) - Edit

I arrived here with a friend almost one hour after closing time on Sunday, having mixed up the times, yet Nev and his partner, who run the show, were still there finishing up and let us in to buy things.

They have a good range of products from various parts of the world in a nice, light-looking store. Unfortunately, because a lot of products are imported, this also makes them more pricey, but many people, i think, go for a treat or a splurge, rather than as a weekly shop.

This was the first time i'd driven to this incarnation of the store, and was a bit worried i might not get parking on the small street you enter on. As it turns out, they have their own little parking area, which was great for the time we arrived.

If you got there when the store was busy, though, i guess you'd likely have to find somewhere else.

We can be thankful we get access to the range of products The Edge offers, including a variety of frozen and refrigerated goods, and do it all in a store dedicated to vegan food and other products.

Pros: friendly owners, fair range, right next to vegan cafe

Cons: bit pricey, not warehouse size ; ), parking limited

Good range, Bad prices. - Edit

I usually spend around $200 each time I visit the green edge. Mainly because I want to support local vegan grocery stores, and because I want to try new products. I'm always impressed with the range of merchandise but disappointed by expensive prices.

Pros: A great range of vegan food, Friendly Staff

Cons: Expensive prices, Out of stock

Great range of supermarket products ! - Edit

I was excited to try this place after hearing about it. I had a hard time choosing from the menu..was feeling like something filling and substantial so ended up ordering sundered tomato pasta with a creamy coconut sauce. I was disappointed to discover there was not a creamy coconut sauce but a very oily one like I try to avoid when I eat pasta out. It tasted great though so I ate most of it trying to avoid the oil. Next time I'll go for a burger they looked good. Service a bit vague, forgot my chips. Supermarket experience was what impressed me ! Finally found a huge range of supplies ! Will be returning mostly for that reason.

Pros: product selection in their fridge

Cons: table service, oily

Awesome store!! - Edit

My partner and I went to The Green Edge Cafe and store a few weeks ago, it is fantastic! I found so many vegan goodies, including marshmallows, cookies and bars. There is a large freezer range, including ice cream, falafel, veggie burgers, tofu ect. They also had lots of different types of flours (chickpea, quinoa ect) and various vegan baking alternatives such as condensed milk which I was very excited about. While we were there we had lunch, I ordered the veggie burger, it was good, a little spicy for me but I can't handle very spicy food, my partner got the nachos, they were good also, we shared a strawberry milkshake which was very delicious with whipped cream on the top. It's great having an all vegan shop like this where I know I can get different bits and pieces for baking and snacks. We will definitely be returning soon.

Pros: Friendly staff, Good food, Wide range

Awesome Vegan Store & Best Vegan Food in Brisbane - Edit

Love Love Love this place! Such friendly staff, tasty fresh vegan food and the best ethical range of groceries in Brisbane! All fully vegan too. I ate the veggie burger and chips but I so want to go back and check out the rest of the menu. The desserts were amazing too. All dairy free and 100% vegan. They had lots of gluten free options too.

Pros: Food - 100% vegan, Service, Product Range

Cons: does not accept AMEX

A Brisbane Vegan's Staple - Edit

I have been coming here for years now. The Green Edge makes the most excellent, satisfying vegan meals. Their menu is full of traditionally non-vegan foods that are so so hard to find elsewhere. Try their pancakes for breakfast, and make sure you get a strawberry milkshake topped with whipped cream alongside it. Lunch? Their satay tofu burger (with hand-cut potato chips) is super satisfying, as are their nachos (which are smothered in guac & Daiya cheese). Their dinner service is lovely too, and desserts are to die for. Try ordering a hot chocolate here, as it will always come with a marshmallow on top.

The service is usually speedy, and the owners are especially kind.

I'll forever be a return customer.

Pros: Incredible food, Large portions, Wide variety of menu items

Outstanding! - Edit

A friend took me to The Green Edge for lunch and I enjoyed it so much I returned with my boyfriend the very next day. The first day I had the mushroom burger and while it was good it was my choice of Truffled Button Mushroom Fettuccine on my second visit that really blew me away. Delicious! My boyfriend had the risotto and it was great too.

I'm definitely happy to recommend this place.

Pros: The food!, Convenient for train., Service

Cons: I'll get fat

Good food, great non-dairy milkshakes - Edit

After a not very restful overnight flight, my mother picked me up from the airport and asked me where I wanted to go for lunch. I'd been to the Green Edge Cafe before (albeit a long time before), so had a pretty good idea that the food was good, and it was conveniently accessible from the airport.

Upon arriving we sat down and ordered our meals. I had the nachos and a maple (soy)milkshake my mother had a risotto and a coffee (soy)milkshake. The milkshakes were both delicious. I had whipped (soy)cream on top and it was incredibly rich and wonderful. The risotto was also delicious, fulfilling all of my (non-vegan) mother's expectations. I have to admit that the nachos were a little disappointing though. There was a bit too much bean mixture, and, being the first time I had ever had daiya cheese, I was a bit disappointed. It was still very edible, but not as good as everything else.

Overall a very good experience. The food was good and the service was quick. The price was more than I'm used to paying (in Japan), but fairly standard for Australia.

Pros: Good food, Great non-dairy milkshakes

We came for breakfast, which was AWESOME, so now we're hanging around for lunch !! Really good vegan food, but couldn't eat it all cos it's Sooo filling !!

One of my favourite places to eat in Brissy - Edit

The Green Edge is definitely one of my favourite places to eat in Brisbane for a casual meal. You can have something quick and easy like a 'cheesy' toasty or something more filling like a risotto or fettuccine and their cook does a perfect job. While you are there you can pick up some yummy cruelty-free groceries.

Every region needs a Green-Edge.

Pros: Great variety of yummy vegan food, Cruelty-free shopping at the same place, Good prices and lovely staff

Cons: I stuff myself cos I can't get eough

All Vegan! Must try the Sub - Edit

This place is a treat; serving up good hearty home style food that tastes amazing. The Sub is the best comfort food ever. The shop could do with some sprucing up however. The fist time I visited there was a pile of boxes at the door which is not a good look - it seems as though they were half way through reinnervating? Some plants could seriously live'n this old place up!

Pros: fully vegan plus grocer, hearty meals

Cons: Poor shop arrangment

Disappointed! - Edit

After reading so many recent positive reviews,we decided to try brunch some 3 weeks ago.Our initial gut reaction was "let's go elsewhere',but we were hungry after travelling up from Byron. The ambience was bland. The service was perfunctory, the coffee weak. After eatig a fry up and scrambied tofu,we both felt queasy and emotionally flat for several hours after.Never again!

Cons: Boring setting, Weak coffee, Uninspiring food

Absolutely delicious - Edit

I recently had the Truffled Button Mushroom Fettuccine - geez it was good! I almost ordered another serve. Simple, but yummy and perfectly cooked.

Pros: Fettucine was fantastic, Moderate prices, Groceries available as well

Cons: Not open late enough

Vegan heaven - Edit

Despite being a little out of the way, I couldn't resist hopping on the train to visit an all-vegan grocery store and cafe. My partner ordered the spicy seitan burger, which he deemed first equal with a Vege Rama burger as the best he'd had, and I ordered the meatball sub - really yum, but the cheese was a little "blue" tasting, which was a bit much for me. For dessert, we ordered the brownie sundae - indulgently delicious. Make sure you have time to browse the store - the ice cream cabinet is particularly impressive (or heartbreaking if, like me, you don't have a freezer to bring some home to).

Pros: Yummy food, Sooo many vegan ice creams, No label checking!

Cons: A little pricy, A little out of the way

Lunch 20.3.2014 - Edit

Had a mushroom burger with chips and salad. while it tasted amazing I was just a bit concerned about the amount of oil that dripped onto my plate from the burger. Had a soy decaf latte that was just a bit strong apart from that would have no problems recommending The green Edge for a meal.

Pros: location, choice of food, ambiance

By submitting this post you agree to HappyCow Terms

Great New Location - Edit

We had read some older reviews saying there was limited seating, so were delighted to find that the cafe has moved and expanded. Lots of room now, a great cafe with excellent variety, and a grocery store where vegans don't have to read the ingredients. Heaven! The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Everything we ordered was great quality and good portions. The mushroom burger was my favourite, really delicious.

Pros: Delicious food, great variety, friendly staff, Grocery lines, so one-stop shop

Cons: A bit pricey but ok cuz vegan specialty

Best Vegan Burgers in Brisbane bar none! Go now! - Edit

The Green Edge is a great place - their variety of vegan burgers are the best in Brisbane - no-one can compete if you like a burger! Tried their meatball sub today - WOW! Satay Burger, Mushroom burger - they amaze! We followed them to the new store in Windsor and we are so impressed. They also do cakes, grocery lines, frozen goods, hot pies, juices, and more! Get there and enjoy! They also do breakfast and Coffee and never fail to impress. Love the food, the vibe, the staff, the owners.

Pros: Best Burgers ever - thank you!, Vegan - so don't worry, just eat, Lots of stuff to choose from

Cons: Grocery lines can be a bit $$$

Always Amazing! - Edit

We've been to the green edge a couple of times now for breakfast and lunch and were always amazed by the quality of the food. The staff is very friendly and welcoming and the place has a friendly vibe. We went here with my parents who are non-vegans and usually a bit suspicious when it comes to vegan food - they were very happy and absolutely satisfied with the portions. I recommend the peanutbutter milkshake and mushroom stack!

Pros: vegan shop, great quality, happy staff

Great vegan cafe and grocery store - Edit

Since moving to their new location the cafe has expanded in size and has a number of tables, so it is now a great place for a family lunch or breakfast. The menu changes seasonally so I'm not sure what they have currently. But when I was there last winter my faves were the toasted sandwiches and the pancake stack with white and brown chocolate layers, ice cream and maple syrup. The peanut butter milkshake was out of this world. They often experiment with new dishes and can occasionally be a bit hit and miss, but I suggest you persevere and find out what dishes you like for return visits. You can also conveniently pick up a big range of vegan groceries and cruelty free toiletries and cleaning products while you are there. I always aim to fit in several visits whenever I am in Brisbane.

Pros: Great vegan food, Knowledgeable friendly vegan staff, Vegan groceries available

The best vegan place in brissie! - Edit

I cannot even begin to explain how awesome The Green Edge is! There are very few places in Brisbane that I would take non-vegan/vego friends and family, but the green edge is absolutely perfect, all their food tastes awesome and the staff are just great.
My partner and I go here atleast once a fortnight. The breaksfasts are super tasty, the big breakfast is absolutely huge, and so delicious. The burgers are rad, and anyone who hasn't yet had the peanut butter milkshake is missing out.
The owner is super friendly and they're always willing to change food around, or make us weird combinations. I cannot give these guys enough praise. Can't wait till they start doing dinners aswell.
They have a huge grocery range, and yes alot of it is expensive, but they're luxury items and you're supporting a locally run family business, not some supermarket chain.
I'm really happy to see this place getting busier and busier!

Pros: Super Yummy Food!, Great Friendly Staff, Wide selection of Vegan groceries

Cons: None!

Wait 'til they're organised - Edit

This used to be a cute little, friendly shop in a location you couldn't miss, but they have moved. Today we went to visit for the first time since the move; it is in an awkward spot behind some other daggy shops - there is NO signage, the shop was a newsagency before and it still has all the old fittings around the counter - in short, it is a mess. The floor was revolting - old, dirty looking lino, their cafe isn't up and running yet and it just had a yuck atmosphere. They have loads and loads of Vegan stuff if you want all that pre-prepared food, and it is expensive. I hope they get their act together soon, because it was really off-putting. We'll wait for a few months before going back, if we ever do.

So, we went back, and the shop appeared to be more organised, however, they had run out of the food we wanted, they made us the most revolting juice I have ever tasted - in their favour they didn't charge us, but told us that they only had some beetroot left and they couldn't make us another one. The food was little more than ordinary, took an age to come out, and we really won't be back this time. You can only give places so many chances before they lose their customers for good.

delicious! - Edit

We had the special of the day... Chips + gravy + vegan cheese, and the lentil mushroom pie. Both were so yummy!
Did miss a bit of green-age on my plate tho... Next time I'll have to try something else there. Burgers look good too but I wasn't that hungry when I went. Look forward yo trying everything on the menu.

Pros: yum, vegan, mid-range $

Great food and great groceries - Edit

I go here at least once a fortnight (usually more often).
Great range of groceries (dry, frozen, fresh veg, cheese and meat analogues, small range of bulk bins, toiletries, cleaning items, shoes...) Reasonable prices, convenient to public transport, parking on site.

Also has a cafe doing breakfast, lunch, cake and coffee.
Highly recommend the mushroom risotto, pumpkin soup and the chocolate cheesecake.
They do milkshakes and coffee with choice of 5 non-dairy milks, some food can be made gluten or soy free.
Everything is tasty and staff are friendly.

They do regular sausage sizzles for special occasions - even Dagwood Dogs for Ekka!

Only downside is that at lunchtime you might have to queue for a while to pay (or buy your groceries) as there is only one register.

Pros: Almond milk ice cream!, excellent cafe, reasonable prices

one stop vegan shoppe - Edit

Great range of vegan products at reasonable prices. Mango smoothie is a massive hit with my daughter as is the chocolate cheesecake. Fresh organic fruit and veg is as cheap, if not cheaper than, the local organic market. Staff always very chatty and helpful. I love having a dedicated vegan store that also has a cafe.

Pros: all vegan, fresh organic produce, great burgers

Awesome!! - Edit

The Green Edge Is my all time favourite vegan spot in Brisbane. For those reading the early reviews from back in 2009, please note that since the change of ownership, its a whole different place. The new owner and staff are so lovely and go out of their way to order stuff in for you if you ask. The cafe food is exceptional. They've just moved premises and its going to be exciting to see what they do with the new bigger space!

Pros: Warm and friendly staff, Huge range of products, Great cafe food

Cons: None!

Great place for Vegans! - Edit

I recently became vegan and was finding it a bit overwhelming having to constantly check the food in the supermarkets to make sure I could eat it. I googled vegan places around Brisbane and the Green Edge came up. Wasn't sure what to expect when I first went there... but I'm so glad I did. It's amazing!! Everything in the store is vegan. It's awesome to know I can pick up anything and it'll be vegan. I've tried so many different things from the store and loved everything! I almost squealed when I saw they had vegetarian pies (which are delicious!). They have everything you could want! It may seem overpriced but to me it's worth it. Especially when I need something like whipped cream for baking (which you can't get in places like Coles/Woolies). The service has always been great. A guy that I assume is the manager or owner (I see him there a lot) once gave me a free loaf of bread when I asked him if they had a different brand (which they were out of stock). He gave me the bread to try out which was super nice. They also do coffees/food/milkshakes and more. I haven't tried any of that stuff so I can't comment but it always looks good. Can't recommend this place enough!

Pros: Great service, Wide variety, 100% vegan!

Super Yummy Vegan Burgers - Edit

Great little vegan store with loads of nice vegan grocery items. The menu is short and the kitchen is small, but hooley dooley, do they make an awesome burger. They really only have one table for dining at, so we shared with a couple of friendly folk who knew about the great vegie burgers. Don't expect fast food, this good food takes some time, but well worth the wait (check out the stuff that they sell in their store). Oh, and their burgers are large, delicious but not overly filling.

Pros: Yummy burgers, Vegan

Cons: Location, Limited seating

Safe Haven for Vegans! - Edit

Thank God for the Green Edge. I am vegan and I consider myself lucky to have found The Green Edge, when I flew to Brisbane last month. As a vegan, I am very conscious about what I eat and I need to make sure everything I consume is cruelty-free. There are quite a few vegetarian places in town but when I got there, I found out that lots of things are not pure vegan and I even got sick when I got back to the hotel. But when I went to the Green Edge. I can have a peace of mind knowing that everything is pure vegan and I didn't have to keep asking the seller about the ingredients. The staff there are very friendly and warm-hearted. It's only 5 km away from downtown and you can get there easily by taking public buses. Being at the Green Edge makes my trip to Brisbane a memorable one and I'll definitely go there again when I have the chance.

Pros: 100% Vegan, Lots of selection, Friendly staffs

What a delight to finally go to a shop completely vegan friendly with great tasty food. Nice atmosphere! Friendly service and great range of products! If it weren't so far from the south side, my partner and I definitely would be visiting more often.

Pros: great variety, friendly staff, tasty food

Cons: distance, small if crowded

Thank you - Edit

My son was in the Royal Children's hospital and was refusing to eat any of their non vegetarian food. Being a long way from home I didn't know where i could things that aren't in the big chain grocery shops. I rang green edge, the staff were wonderful and helpful. They had most of the items my son wanted (including vegan jelly) and what they didn't have they could direct me to were I could purchase them. Thank you!

Pros: helpful , reasonably priced , good range for small shop

Cons: nil

A lovely place - Edit

Green Edge is a haven for vegans. It is a cafe and health food shop all in one. The freezer is filled with frozen vegan treats from around the world (ice-cream, sausage rolls, mock meats) while the shelves are laden with all sorts of vegan condiments and other goodies, such as vegan soap. We had a quick lunch there, and the outstanding item on our menu was the chocolate sundae. This sort of thing has to be tried to be believed. It was certainly worth $8.95 - I had a delicious aftertaste in my mouth for the rest of the day. Dreamy!

Pros: variety, personal service, small and comfy setup

Great Food & Service - Edit

This place has a relaxed atmosphere. There's a good selection of tasty & healthy snacks and meals. The staff are friendly and helpful, for example, making me a dandelion tea with rice milk even though it wasn't on the menu. The fried field mushrooms with fresh salad, vegan aoili and mango chuntney was excellent!

Pros: tasty, healthy food, friendly & helpful staff, good atmosphere

100% Vegan! - Edit

I visited The Green Edge yesterday and was very impressed! We were greeted with a free soy chai tea, and left to browse the store. Staff were always on hand to answer questions. It's absolutely awesome to have a 100% vegan place in Brisbane, and not to have to worry about checking ingredients lists, etc. The prices are quite high, but all products are organic, sustainable, fair trade, local, or a combination. I will definitely visit here again!

Pros: 100% Vegan, Helpful staff, Wide range

Cons: Expensive

Being a vegan in Brisbane isn't easy i'll tell you that, but The Green Edge just made life a lot easier, sure it might be in a bit of a random location and some of the prices might be a little expensive but i would pa any amount of money so an animal doesn't have to suffer. To add to the awesomeness it's fair trade too!! I will happily pay a few extra dollars to support these guys, maybe then they'll branch out into somewhere like chermside :)

Pros: Excellent range, Friendly staff

Cons: a little hard to get to
