Nice cozy place with good food - Edit
After a long walk at the cliffs, we stopped here for some good vegan food and drinks. We ordered the ste*k & chips and the f*sh & chips. Comes with lots of fries but the ste*k was a bit small. For dessert, we got the vanilla cheesecake and the Banoffee pie. Both delicious!

Amazing food after a hike through Beachy Head! - Edit
We wanted to spend a day in Beachy Head as a break from London and were amazed to find a vegan restaurant in Eastbourne!
Read moreThe place is cozy with indoor and outdoor seating. They've got a great menu with appys, mains and deserts. They make most of their faux meats in house (no Quorn!) and it was delicious. They were also able to accommodate a plain food request from our son.
I will come here again.

Amazing vegan find! - Edit
We found The Good Grub on here after finishing a long hike - it was absolutely what we needed and more! We had the Sunday roast which was so tasty and we both appreciated the big portions! Lovely drinks too. I’d definitely recommend a visit here xx

Great range of different vegan options - so hard to choose! - Edit
A great choice of such a range of different 100% vegan options on the menu that it was difficult to choose from! I went for the Gyros and my partner the Tacos, and both were great with really tasty houmus and tzatsiki, and pesto (contained walnuts FYI) sauces respectively. 100% recommend visiting here if you're vegan, or otherwise!

Read moreThey were unfortunately out of fish and chips 1h30 before closing, however the steak toastie was amazing! The oreo milkshake was also one of the best I’ve ever had.
On the other hand, the vanilla cheesecake was extremely underwhelming: it was nothing like the other cheesecakes in the photos, it was just what seemed like chantilly and a cookie base (no cake), which made it very nauseating and not that good ...
The service was chaotic this afternoon, but the staff was still very friendly.
Really wished the experience was better given the apparent potential (and price). Would return though!

Pros: All food was made nicely, Apprently the toilet furnishings are vintage., The menu looks comprehensive and is good.
Cons: You need to check that it is going to be open.

Their website and Instagram says they’re closed for a break and have done for a while. It’s unfair to give a 2* rating based on this. Google opening times are often just guides. And even if it wasn’t advertised, small independent businesses often have to close last minute when circumstances come up.

We’re sorry to hear you were disappointed! We had a planned closure for a couple of weeks for staff holidays and did have a notice up in the window as well as on our website and social media. An Absolute Gem of a Place - Edit
Today I finally visited The Good Grub in Eastbourne. I could’ve had a coffee and cake, a toastie or a full meal (or just cocktails!). I’d been eyeing up their steak and chips for ages via their socials and it didn’t disappoint, arriving with peas, mushrooms and charred tenderstem brocolli as well as truffle mayo and peppercorn sauce. All the food coming out to other tables looked amazing, particularly the fish’n’chips and the fishcakes. This place isn’t just about the food though; it’s a place where everyone is welcome including pooches and children. Two youngsters in there were throughly enjoying their food in between bouts of colouring! Plus, they have a separate fryer for their gluten-free food. Thanks for the lovely welcome Chloe 🙏🏻

Gorgeous decor, really friendly and welcoming staff. Have been for full on dinners and also just for cocktails with a dessert and have never left disappointed. I have taken vegan friends and non vegan friends and everyone has always been really happy with what theyve had. Great quality food and drink and just such a lovely vibe!

Such a treat to go to a fully vegan restaurant! The cauliflower popcorn did not disappoint, and I had the Green Goddess Burger with what seemed like mismatched ingredients that amazingly seemed to work.

My husband and I really enjoyed our food here. It’s right by the theatre and they do 15% off food if you show your theatre tickets. It was great that I could create my own dish from a wide choice of extras. The cauliflower cheese was top notch!

Ate there twice, staff were fantastic, very helpful checking and double checking the food to make sure it worked with my allergies, a little on the pricer side for a frugal traveller, but delicious meals and worth the price.

I've hopefully corrected the hours on Google maps, we nearly didn't head over as we thought they'd be closing up. Luckily we risked it, and found them open and more than happy to serve.

I had the roast which was HUGE! Great selection of food - turkey, broccolini, potatoes, parsnips, carrots, cheezy cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, peas, red cabbage and gravy! The potatoes were excellent but everything could have had a bit more seasoning/ flavour added to it. Mum had the Bad Boy burger which she enjoyed. The mocktails were great. I they have a huge selection of 0% spirits. The one downside was the weak coffee. I will be back as there was so much on the menu to try!

Loved the decor and funky feel. Menu was great, so much to choose from. I had the banana blossom 'fish' & chips. A little disappointing as it could have been crisper, but delicious. Great to have a fully vegan option at the seaside.

Arriving on the English coast, what else could I do then try some fish? We ordered the fish cakes and vegan fish and chips. Both were absolutely amazing. The vegan fish and chips was a HUGE meal that I truly couldn’t finish by myself. Oh and also we started of with baked Camembert, one of my favourite dishes ever. None of it disappointed and everything was great.
