Benllech chippy offering vegan pies - Edit

If you just stumbled upon this place it wouldn’t be obvious they cater for vegans at all as the vegan options (a selection of three pies), aren’t listed anywhere I could see inside the chippy itself, but on the online menu only. This is a bit of a shame as a vegan not using HappyCow wouldn’t have a clue (so I have the kind person who reviewed before me to thank for that as I found the The Golden Fry on HappyCow).

There’s three vegan pies to choose from, a meatless & potato, “chicken” & mushroom and
“cheese” & onion. It’s worth noting that these are Pukka pies and aren’t homemade.

I went for the meatless & potato pie, chips, mushy peas and gravy - I was craving a chippy tea and it really did hit the spot!

You can order online via the app, but the online order wait time was about 45 minutes when we ordered, so we just walked in and did it the old fashioned way and had to wait around 20 minutes instead. This was a Wednesday night in the middle of February so I imagine it gets very busy in the summer months.

Just a heads up, if you’re greedy (like me) I’d order the larger portion of chips and the larger tub of gravy as I could have eaten more. It’s a little pricy too, with the above coming to about £10 in total.

Plenty of choice, but pricey. - Edit

Could only see the vegan options online, although there was a good selection of pies. They all came as part of a meal at almost £11 each, so expensive for a chippy tea! The pies were nice, the chips were ok. Won’t be rushing to visit again unfortunately.

Spoilt for choice. The mushroom pie I chose was out of stock, so I had the applewood cheese and onion pie instead. Generous portions. Would recommend ordering online and collecting, like I did, because the queue was long.

Great pie and chips - Edit

The mince and onion pie and chips were delicious. The website didn't make clear if the mushy peas and gravy were vegan (and I couldn't be bothered to ask!) so we made our own at home. They forgot our chips and first but sorted it once we messages them. Really nice food.
