Just check before ordering a vegan Sunday roast - Edit
It's a quirky pub and we've enjoyed it before, but the vegan Sunday roast option was disappointing this time. The vegan centrepiece was a plain roasted butternut squash, which meant we ended up with just a plate of vegetables. The accompanying vegetables and roast potatoes were also lukewarm at best.
Read moreWhen I raised this with them after the meal, they said they would put on a mushroom wellington from the next Sunday. It's great that they listen to feedback.
They've done better in the past and they are clearly trying to be vegan-friendly. There are other vegan options on the menu, so see what you think.

We’d found this pub on Happy Cow and booked a table - saw they offered pizza with vegan cheese but actually there was more choice on the daily specials - a spicy butternut which could be made vegan, or tofu in roasted red peppers with fresh salad which I had. It was delicious! While they are an omnivorous restaurant they obviously take vegan food seriously, as I heard them helping someone at the next table who was checking some ingredients. Service was pleasant and efficient, outside seating good - under a canopy so you wouldn’t want to be out there in a downpour but we were perfectly comfortable on a slightly drizzly evening. Oh and there’s an extensive gin menu too! I’d happily visit again if we find ourselves in Rye.
