Sides are kale, brown rice, sweet potatoes, collard greens, etc. A daily selection of desserts, as well as drinks, round out the menu. The space is shared with a Jamaican restaurant that serves meat, but the food is prepared separately. Instagram @theglobalveganllc. Relocated from 442 Main St. Reported closed, Oct 2021. Organic, local, vegan

We thoroughly enjoyed the food, the drinks from the bar and the hospitality of the chef and owner Meg. There is a parking garage behind the buildings if you can't find a parking spot on the street.

Pros: Great organic, locally sourced, vegan, Chef prepared, Bar and table seating

Cons: Limited hours, Not easy to see, no obvious signage

Excellent food, friendly service.

The Mexican tofu scramble was expertly seasoned, flavourful without without being overly spicy. The plant-based empanada and the Jamaican-style "oxtail" jackfruit were also delicious. If you have additional dietary restrictions (e.g., no oil), call before 11 am, and they will accommodate you. Chef Marcus, the owner, is a longtime vegan and a dietitian, so you're in good hands. I wish I lived in Poughkeepsie so I could go there more often.

Odd. I went there today, and the business was no longer there. Can you describe your trip to this restaurant, and exactly where it was? The person I talked to had a soul food restaurant, and said the vegan thing with Chef Marcus had closed a year ago or so. I had not been to it yet. I went today on my first excursion to look at restaurants since before Covid-19. Is this possible?

Vegan comfort food

Super filling (but not heavy) and delicious comfort food in Poughkeepsie. The mac is to die for, and the chili fries are topped generously. Nice customer service too! Will definitely come back again to try more of the menu. It’s shared with another business so it’s a little hard to spot the storefront at first.

Pros: Flavorful and filling comfort food, Some dessert options

Cons: Hard to spot the storefront

Hi. See my comment to poivron above. Restaurant storefront has "Amazing Grace" name. Only 1 restaurant--nonvegan Soul, I think. Person in charge said Chef Marcus's effort ended about a year ago. How unfortunate! Are you basing your reviews on a trip long ago? Any chance it was at a different address? Thanks.

Crab Cake was AMAZING

Delicious new vegan american comfort food. I tried the mac and cheese, the bbq seitan and kale, as well as the crab cake. It was delicious! A lot of flavor! The crab cake was incredible I will be coming back for another one! They also had a homemade mint lemonade which was delicious!

So yummy!

I tried the Mac & Cheese and it hit the spot! Super creamy & comforting. Whenever I try a new vegan spot I always try the M&C because it’s pretty telling about how the rest of the food will be. I definitely will be back to try more of their menu.

Vegan options, Main Street Poughkeepsie

We heard about this place from a friend and decided to stop in. The staff were very friendly and greeted us asking if we were there for The Vegan Global Cafe or the Jamaican restaurant (the space is shared, separate menus one veg the other non-veg). We indicated we're there for the vegan and were shown the sizeable menu of options. We decided upon chili with cornbread, mac 'n cheese, carrot cake, and lemon pound cake, and went to the nearby waterfront park to enjoy the spring breeze by the Hudson along with our food. I tend to gravitate toward lighter foods, but I enjoyed our choices and look forward to next time when I'll sample a salad and perhaps one of the tasty-sounding wraps. If you live in the area or are just passing through, I recommend you give this place a visit!
