Great food - Edit
This was a nice find and enjoyable restaurant. Don't go on a Snday night if you want dessert though. They aparently don't bake desserts over the weekend and were all out by Sunday night.
Pros: all vegan, tasty food
Cons: not a huge selection, a little pricey

oh. my. goodness. - Edit
my boyfriend isn't even vegan and he said their eggplant parm was the best he had ever had and whatever cake it was that we ended up with was one of the tastiest things i have ever eaten. i don't live in the area, but he and his co-worker have made 2 30-minute trips there since we ate there about a week ago because they loved it so much. part of my order was not what i asked for, but probably tasted better that what i asked for.
Pros: EXCELLENT FOOD, filling but not too heavy, very nice staff
Cons: not downtown?

Garden_Steve 04 Mar 2011 - Hi and thanks for taking the time to write a review. Thanks to your input and input from several other customer we have taken the honey of the menu. We have modified the recipes that contained honey to use either raw cane sugar, agave nectar or maple syrup. So now you can feel confident that everything is 100% vegan by the strictest possible standards. I do apologize for any errors in your orders. We are still learning and growing.

Three Stars - Edit
First, the cons: This restaurant is not 100% vegan if you include the fact that they serve honey and some breads contain honey. Also, there were no pizzas! The online menu made it clear that they currently serve pizzas, but we were told they would not be available until the following week. Lastly, the service could use improvement. We did not receive our tea and my entree! The server tried to memorize our order instead of writing it down so he completely forgot it and we had to ask for it after all the other food was served.
Okay, the pros: The food was pretty tasty. The restaurant was clean and had a good ambience. And yes, I would return. I'd like to try the pizzas and the dessert!
Pros: good food, good ambience, clean
Cons: not 100% vegan, service, no pizza!

Garden_Steve 22 Feb 2013 - Thanks for input and caring enough to take the time. First I want to let you know that because of input from you and others we have removed honey from any of the recipes we serve. We really do want to hear you comments, concerns and suggestions. We are always looking for ways to improve our recipes, service, and the healthfulness of our food. We did have the projected date for the pizza on the website, but obviously it was not clear or prominent enough. You were not the only ones who came in expecting pizza before we actually started serving it. The good news is that it's out now and it's really good. My favorites are the Alfredo and the Thai. My wife loves the BBQ Chick-N. We are definitely working on improving the service. It's much better now, but business is increasing pretty quickly so I would definitely recommend reservations. Actually it was probably me who had a hard time remembering your order. I am not as good at remembering as I thought and don't even try anymore. Try the Carob Cappuccino Cheezcake. I look forward to seeing you again at The Garden and thanks again for your comments.

The Garden - Edit
I went here last night with low expectations. It hadn't received good reviews on yelp... I ordered the FLT with garlic fries and my non-vegan friend ordered the enchiladas. We both enjoyed our meals. Some of the complaints on yelp were about the service and also the kitchen being out of things. I found the waiter to be very polite and attentive. They were out of two of the entrees, however, we didn't plan on ordering either of those, so it was no bother...
It wasn't an amazing dining experience, but I would definitely return. I gave it 3 cows because it definitely has room to improve, and this is the bay area... I need a reason not to head over to the Slice of Life in Sebastopol...
Pros: Polite staff
Cons: Honey wheat bread

Garden_Steve 22 Feb 2013 - Thanks so much for taking the time to review us. I read all of the reviews and really get a lot from the suggestions. I have to apologize for being out of some of the items on the menu. We are working to reduce that but it may always be a bit of a problem. When you use fresh unprocessed ingredients you find that they spoil much faster that the "run of the mill" more processed ingredients. Whole grains can go rancid and ripe quality produce just does not last as long as the stuff that is picked green and "gassed" to make it look good. We cannot order huge amounts and keep them around because the really good produce either spoils or starts to grow in a pretty short time. We have been open just over a year now and have learned a lot. Still room to improve and that is why I so much appreciate folks who take the time to give us feedback so we can make things better.
I sure look forward to seeing you again and getting an "update" on how we are doing.

bavegan 22 Feb 2013 - I haven't had a chance to review again, but I have been back twice since that initial review. We were back once for breakfast and we both ordered the tofu scramble and loved it. Also, we both enjoyed the fruit salad that came with it. The other time I ordered the FLT again, and it was still delicious! :-)
