Terrible and tiny "Big" breakfast. - Edit
My wife and I visited on a Sunday and ordered the "Big" breakfast. The cafe is nice enough but our food was very terrible. I've attached an image. 2.5 x new potatoes, 1 x burnt sausage, some overcooked and under-seasoned spinach, 2x cold mushrooms sliced with some beans and cold toast with no spread. Not even half a tomato! Which was listed on the menu. My wife ordered some Tempeh for an extra cost, that was also burnt. If they'd renamed it the "Tiny & Terrible" Breakfast I might have been less disappointed.
Read moreI would happily have told the waiting team that it was terrible, but nobody came over to ask if the food was okay and nobody asked if everything was good when we paid. That's bad practice, I'm venting my review on here instead.
Would have given 1 star but Happy Cow won't let me, so 2 stars it is!
Perhaps they were having a bad day, it is and will remain the only time I've eaten there.

Really tasty food - Edit
I am a regular at the garden cafe, the food is really tasty and the staff are very knowledgeable about vegan food although they are often grumpy. I wonder if they don’t really like children as I usually have mine with me.
Read moreThey have specials which change and I have noticed more vegan options appearing on the board like a delicious pie! However the vegan cakes are almost always the same, would love to see some new options.
Pros: Really tasty food, Good number of vegan options

Vegetarian with Vegan options - Edit
Great Vege Cafe with many Vegan options, lovely dog friendly sheltered court yard. The food is always fresh, interesting and tasty, some of the best Salad I've tasted. The only thing that lets it down is the easiest to put right, and that is so often the beers or wines are not cold or cold enough and the coffee is really average.

Cons: Cold drinks often not cold, or quickly run out.

3 Breakfasts
Read moreThis is a lovely cafe, situated in the quaint town of Frome.
We would have sat outside, however, as with most places, the outside is ruined by smokers. I now find that I am no longer able to sit outside of most places as that's where all the smokers go, and the last thing I want - especially whilst I'm eating - is to have cigarette smoke wafting in my face. It's still a place of work, and I find it frustrating that I now have to shut myself away in the summer, to avoid inhaling toxic fumes.
So we sat inside, which is lovely. We did all find the old church chairs very uncomfortable though. They look great, but a bit jabby in the spine!
Myself and my daughter were happy with our meals - I had avocado on toast (could have had a little more avocado), she had the big breakfast.
My friend, however was most upset that his breakfast was not "big" as the menu had advertised! He said it all tasted fine, but for the price and the name, he would at least expect 2 eggs, 2 sausages, at least 2 slices of toast, jam, tea or coffee with it. So he left the cafe hungry and grumpy!
I tend to agree with him... a breakfast does usually come with a hot drink, and a Big Breakfast does seem to have 2 of everything in all the places we've been to, so this might be something to adjust.
My daughter was happy with hers, as it was the perfect size for an 8 year old!
Pros: Friendly Staff, Food Tastes Good, Lovely Decor & Location
Cons: Big Breakfast was actually quite small, Smokers make outdoor area a no-go, Old Church Pews Uncomfortable

Decent but pricey - Edit
I have been here quite a few times as it is probably the best choice to get a decent vegan meal in Frome.
Read moreI revisited today with a friend and ordered the vegan "big" breakfast and was disappointed to find it tiny. One sausage, half a tomato, one slice of toast, a tiny pot of beans , 4 new potatoes and a few mushrooms and a splodge of spinach. Being vegan the egg was left out and nothing seemed to have replaced it, though I was charged the same. It was rather disappointing.
Pros: Thai buger is amazing
Cons: Small portions for the price

My favourite place in Frome - Edit
Although not 100% vegan, the Garden Cafe certainly accommodates vegan diets. There’s lots to choose from and the salads are all always vegan. ‘Next Door’ has a nice range of tofu, seitan etc to take away. V busy at lunchtime so try to avoid the 1pm rush and book a table in advance if you plan to go there. Lovely garden at the back which you can take dogs in.

Fantastic menu, very adaptable, wonderful service friendly and happy environment. And the shop best door has a small cafe area with great food and a brilliant shop for all your vegetarian and vegan food & groceries, a lot is locally sourced in and around Frome. Highly recommend 5 stars all the way x

Lovely place - Edit
I love the Garden Cafe. It's the only veggie place in Frome and offers a good selection of very tasty dishes. The Thai burger is delicious. The pizzas also. They should have more vegan options though - or why not make everything vegan? Lovely garden out back. They have a big veggie shop next door which sells lots of vegan things. A great place all round.

Fantastic lunch - Edit
There were a couple of vegan options available on the lunch menu. I chose the vegan burger which was tasty and filling, and a generous slice of cake which did not disappoint! The cafe had a good atmosphere. We enjoyed it, and would visit again.

Yummy Salads - Edit
With 3 or 4 vegan choices this is a great place to eat a nice lunch. The best is definitely the salads, with 6 or so vegan choices I normally grab a box or two for the week.

cute cafe - Edit
I've visited lots over the past 3 years as it's my local vege cafe and it is a lovely place but the menu never gets updated, there are limited vegan options and sometimes no vegan cake at all. The last 3 times I've been I've questioned whether they've remembered I ordered the vegan option.

A great find! - Edit
I parked myself here while my boyfriend went shopping. The staff were really helpful in finding me somewhere to sit (I am on crutches) and waited on me to some degree - which is really nice as it's not a table service sort of place.
Read moreI was able to eat 2 types of cake (I am vegan & coeliac), both of which were really lovely. I wish we had been there longer as their lunch offerings looked really nice.
There was a good range of produce in the shop and it was nice to sit and look at what was on sale while I ate my cake(s).
Pros: Great staff, Tasty (gluten-free) cakes
Cons: Perhaps a little pricey

Always a treat - Edit
Super, busy little place that does us proud on our annual visits to Frome. Yes the prices for main meals may seem a bit high, but the portions are big, the flavours fulsome and the atmosphere good and rustic. There's even a children's corner tucked under the stairs. Fresh, organic veggies and bread are also available along with a small selection of grocery goods - again rather pricey but good for a treat.

Nice setting but a little pricey - Edit
This is a lovely little vegetarian restraurant with a decent selection of vegan options. They do have some snack type things, for under a fiver but most dishes, including the vegan burger and chips are nearer £10.00. The staff are helpful and you can have a lovely coffee and vegan flapjack for less than £4.00. However there isn't much else in the way of desserts for vegans. There is a pretty little courtyard garden at the back. The place is very child friendly and even has a little play area for them. Can get very busy.
