Blooming Marvellous

The culmination of a rather bizarre morning, that saw me unwittingly ambling around an abandoned hotel, was my breakfast here at this unexpectedly idyllic restaurant. Adorned with tasteful faux foliage, this light-filled, relaxing venue stood in stark contrast to the post-apocalyptic aura of the preceding establishment.
Now in entirely more positive surroundings (i.e. it was open), I was confident that the food would be equal to ambience. This wasn’t to be the case though: it surpassed it. The only real quandary this place posed was trying to identify what I enjoyed the most. In terms of sheer volume, arguably it would be the spring rolls. I literally cannot tell you how many of these addictively delightful morsels I inhaled, the focus became simply smashing as many as I could into my face rather than keeping count. The corn rice too took a significant hit; its umami-laced goodness was practically irresistible, and I was lashing heaps of the stuff into bowls before I could think. Yet, as good as these were, they faced serious competition from the most humble items on offer. Never before in the innumerable buffets I’ve frequented have I been so enamoured with the vegetables. I’m not even sure that I can sufficiently express the reasons why they were so moreish, all I know is that they were phenomenal. The foul, too, was another surprising highlight. Very seldom is this a noteworthy offering, but once again, in this place, there was an almost unquantifiable uniqueness that made it an absolute pleasure.
Initially, I came here as something of a last resort. Now, it’s firmly cemented at the forefront of my mind as a place to be when looking to start the day off right.
