The Garden Cafe - Edit
Popped in for a quick lunch when visiting Kendal and had the tofu mayo sandwich with bacun, which I enjoyed. I also took away a slice of cake — it was the last piece of that flavour and, while it looked moist, unfortunately it turned out to be quite dry and crumbled on the first bite. Lovely, relaxed space and vibe. Dog friendly.

Tasty vegan food 😊 I had the egg and mayo sandwich with bacon which was very tasty!! My boyfriend had the chunky vegetable soup. Then we shared some delicious pancakes.

We got the full breakfast and pancakes. Both were delicious but especially the tofu scramble! A lot of times it’s usually hit or miss but here was probably some of the best I’ve ever had. Great place!

Great food in a lovely cafe - Edit
The food is great with generous portions. I had the 'chicken' mayo sandwich and a hazelnut chocolate slice, both of which were delicious. Then a few days later my partner and I both had the full breakfast, which were also yummy and huge portions. The cafe is light and friendly and has a cosy little nook behind a curtain with a beanbag and secondhand books for reading or buying. I just wish I lived in Kendal so I could come here regularly!

Its been a year on from my last review and i can honestly say that its just as good as ever! Flavour balance is just right. I had the mushrooms on sourdough with chilli jam. Balance was perfect. It would have been so easy to overpower the mushroom flavour with the chilli but the balance was spot on.

Loved this. BLT and salt & pepper fries were bang on. Chipotle chicken mayo tasted a bit too much like the dry spices used to spice the mayo in my opinion, but still enjoyed. Would definitely return!

This is an absolutely fantastic cafe. We always eat here every time we visit the Lake District. The staff are wonderful, so kind and friendly, and the food is phenomenal.
Read moreThere are two tables outside, which are perfect in the sunshine and inside it has a lovely cosy atmosphere.
They do iced coffee, and superb pancakes 🥞 They are some of the best vegan pancakes I've had. I would also highly recommend the egg mayo sandwich.
Pros: Superb pancakes 🥞, Egg mayo sandwich and walnut pate are stupidly goo, The staff are so sweet and make you feel at home
Cons: Nothing to dislike, I only wish I lived closer

Amazing food and the most incredible cakes - Edit
Visited here on our way home from the Lakes. Loads of gluten free options. We went for the burgers which were so so tasty (and v decent portion sizes), and then some cake after. Wow wow wow the cake was off the scale, the best I've ever had. Free parking too.

Read moreWe went for breakfast and ordered the tofu scramble with cappuccinos; the tofu scramble was delicious, the coffee was perfect and even the toast was something special 😋
The cafe also doubles as a gallery for local art so there's lots to look at and talk about while you're sat there 😀
I would have liked to see a few more breakfast style options, maybe something 'bigger' like scramble with tomatoes, spinach, hash browns/ sausages etc
They did have pancakes on the menu I will have to try next time though! 🥞

Not easy to find, in the courtyard of the Tapestry Museum but well worth it. Excellent coffee, we had soup, burger and BLT as well as a delicious chocolate cake. Top notch.

The couple running the place are lovely. Big menu with lots of choice and really reasonable prices. We had the banana pancakes (£6.50) and the tofu scramble (£8) and both were really tasty. Hot chocolate (£3.50) was nice too. The cakes on display looked nice and the slices were huge. Definitely recommend a visit!

Visited this lovely cafe this morning for some breakfast, we had the banana pancakes and the tofu on toast which were both amazing! Scrambled tofu is one of the best I've had! 5* and well worth the visit! If I ever go back to Kendal I will be back here 😊
