Cute little Co-Op

The staff are very friendly and they work hard to offer fresh vegan options. I used to get their burritos every day, which were constantly revolving and always satisfying. In recent years, however, the quality of the burrito has gone way down. They’re usually filled with rice and very little veggies. Disappointing.
I’m giving them 4 stars because of the variety of sandwiches and soups they offer. Sometimes vegan pies and cobblers, too!

Great grab and go snacks

Really great option if you want a super cheap vegan lunch in Old Town. There's always a vegan breakfast burrito and soups and usually a sandwich. I haven't really done any shopping there, but I have seen some things I haven't been able to find elsewhere.

Pros: Cheap grab and go food, Rotating vegan options daily, Bulk vegan burrito orders

This place LOVES vegans like us!

The Mountain Avenue Market has a different ENTIRELY VEGAN breakfast burrito every weekday and I've tried quite a few of them. Some are heavier on the rice than others, but I've had a couple so totally scrumptious and oozing with yummy sauce I wish they'd make every day of the week! Alas the cooks are constantly coming up with different options and there's no set schedule for the burritos. The Market makes delicious vegan soups as well which are also totally random but entirely DELICIOUS! Their curried soups are especially worth a try.

On the other hand, there's a set schedule for their ENTIRELY VEGAN sandwiches and the majority are outta sight! On Mondays there's the Hippie Rueben is so tasty with mouth puckering sauerkraut, creamy 1000 island dressing, and locally made tempeh from Avo's. On Friday I LOVE LOVE LOVE the meatball sub dripping with gooey cheese, locally made marinara, and stuffed full of meatballs. I could eat them every week!

Pros: Yummy, Rotating choices, Frequent buyer rewards

Cons: A little pricey

Painfully overpriced :(

It is a food co-op, they've a pretty solid bulk food selection, small selection of local produce, and locally made goods, sandwiches, etc. I heartily support my food co-op when possible (Albuquerque has a great one) but I cannot figure out how in the world this particular co-op is so freakin' expensive (bulk items can be 2x to 3x the price of Whole Foods, which is majorly significant, and not hyperbole). Prices like these perpetuate the idea that healthy food is only for the monetarily privileged. Unless your life is configured in such a way that you bank large amounts of money, it is extremely difficult to justify shopping here for anything more than the occasional tasty sandwich/wrap/nori-thing when hungry on the go—oh, they DO have bulk oil and soap, the one major plus that I'd advocate for.

Pros: Bulk oil and soap

Cons: Prices that make me very sad

The Best Grocery Store in Town!

The Food Co-op offers so much for vegans! They have a vegan sandwich item everyday, plus all sort of other deli items. They were the first grocery store in Fort Collins to offer Daiya cheese! The staff is always so friendly when I go in there. I love how they know me by name. Every once in awhile I have to go somewhere else to get something they don't carry, but it's rare.

Pros: Friendly Staff, Bulk, Local

Cons: Close Early

Vegan-Friendly

A very small store, but they have a lot of vegan stuff that can't be found in Whole Foods (that I know of) like vegan baby wipes and vegan chicken nuggets. They have lots of fresh produce that looked amazing. They also have fresh vegan baked goods.

Pros: unique items, vegan options, vegan baked goods

Cons: busy location, small, vegan cheese overpriced
