Delicious food - Edit
I went there twice and also ordered to take away, it was delicious every time.
Read moreThey change their menu very often so there is always new things to discover, but one thing I noticed is that the eggplants are perfectly cooked all the time.
The beverages are also great, from local brewed beer to homemade cocktails.
I advise you to book ahead if you plan to go there. The current (april 2021) sitting outside is on the steps next to the restaurant, but if you are more than two or/and can't sit on the steps, they can also install regular tables.

First night in Lisbon - Edit
We’d read about this place on HC and decided to go track it down. It’s a bit of a ‘treasure hunt’ to find but well worth it! Initially we were the first customers of the night but it soon began to fill up. It’s not the biggest restaurant in the world so a reservation would be advised if you’re dining any later than 20:00. Our waiter was more than attentive and made us feel very welcome and took the time to explain the menu and its seasonal changes for November/December.
Read moreWe chose to go with the tasting menu which consisted of seven smaller versions of each option on the menu. Each one was prepared and cooked impeccably by the two chefs working that night. The chefs seemed to work in a quiet and professional manner as little communication between them was noticed…… They didn’t need to!
The kitchen is open and intimate, you can watch them preparing and cooking the food. The whole place has a lovely intimate vibe to it and we would throughly recommend trying this place if you’re looking for something a little different to the normal plant based options.
Pros: The food was amazing!, The atmosphere was intimate, The staff we’re knowledgeable and welcoming
Cons: The card machine wasn’t operational so needed cash

An excellent experience at an excellent restaurant!! - Edit
We ate here for dinner and it was one of the best meals of our trip. Arriving when the restaurant opened, they were not quite prepared for us inside, so we sat on the steps until we could be seated. We started with a carafe of fresh red sangria and the Appetizer Set. Because they had no DIP, we were allowed to double up on the Caprese and that was by far the best thing in the set. If possible, I would recommend ordering nothing but the Caprese! it's THAT good!
Read moreAfter the appetizer, we proceeded with the tasting menu. It was a lot of food and it was great to be able to try a lot of things on the regular menu, but in smaller portions. Some were winners and some we could have skipped, but we were able to try them, regardless. It was also fascinating to watch the kitchen in action. For being such a small space and with so many diners (the place got packed), the chefs did an excellent job keeping up with service.
I would highly recommend a visit and if nothing else, ORDER THE CAPRESE!!!
Pros: Tasting menu allows trying many of the dishes, Friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Can get crowded inside

Great atmosphere - Edit
The food was tasty, creative and the atmosphere outside was great. You must book the tasting menu ahead, however if you miss out, the menu to choose from is great regardless and the plate sizes are small enough that you can choose a few different things to try.

Favourite vegan place in Lisbon - Edit
During our stay we went to a few vegan places - all food excellent but this was my favourite by far.

Croquettes, filo pastry parcels in a dreamy broth, and pea risotto.
We sat outside on the steps and ate a sweet little table.

A nice taster menu - Edit
We opted for the 8 course taster menu. Everything that came out was nice or fine but there wasn’t anything that made it stand out as amazing. I really wanted to love this but I only liked all the courses.

A need to go in Lisbon - Edit
The place has a great vibe, as the staff. Some dishes are great, others are ok. But it's super worth it to visit, sit outside and enjoy a good wine with some finger foods. It's possible to taste various dishes

wonderful outdoor seating - Edit
really lovely staff, we didn’t make a reservation and just turned up but they managed to squeeze us in, explaining that they did have a small kitchen and as they were super busy that night things might be slower
Read moreThe seating outside on the steps was wonderful as it was a lovely evening, and we were walked through how they worked by a really lovely server
got our smaller plates first which were very tasty, if slightly small
The risotto i ordered did take a while to arrive, maybe 30 or so minutes after our first things had arrived but that had been explained before
the brownie was the highlight! as a gluten free vegan i always get excited when i can actually eat dessert and this was a very delightful change

Cons: Slow Service

A total disagreement - Edit
I haven’t been this disappointed in a restaurant since before I went Vegan. I put this on our travel itinerary as my number one choice to try in Portugal and I couldn’t be more let down. The troubles they had with the water supply were not the problems we had. We were “recommended” the tasting menu 3 times so we decided to give in. We were told we would get everything on the menu but in small portions. 30 euros each (drinks were additional).
Read moreWe were the first people to arrive, then another table arrived. They got their wine before we got our tea and wine. Then they got their first 2 entrees (decent size) and we were still wanting for our first food item. They were served another entree and we still had no food. 10 mins later we were given a half cup each of lukewarm beetroot soup that was much too salty. More Portuguese people showed up and were given drinks and food right away. At this point we were given a Heart of Palm Croquette the size of a bonbon. It was better than the soup but I honestly can’t tell you about the flavor because I wolfed it down, since I was starving by then. The second table was served their desserts and more wine. 10 mins later we were given a taco the size of one tortilla chip. I had to keep from laughing. I do remember tasting that one, because I was wishing it was the size of an actual taco. At this point, I was done. I asked a server to bring us a full sized entree of ANYTHING. I told him we were starving and needed to get more food or the rest of the “tasting” portions faster. He told me that we were getting them quicker than usual. He said he would bring everything else out at once, like it was a threat. (Please do!) He lied, because it was another 10 mins before we got a Tart sized Phyllo Dough cup.
The 2nd table left and I wish we had. I told our original server to bring us the rest of our food and she brought out the Pea and Mint Risotto (my husband makes better Risotto) and the worse dish of the night, Leek and Strawberry BBQ. Which contained cold and undercooked Leeks and Cauliflower with a sauce that in no way resembled BBQ. As far as food quality. The deserts were the best items. The Lavender did not over power the Lemon in my cake (which is hard to do) and the brownie was rich and had a nice texture. The nut mousse on top really added to it. I would say the tasting menu is a scam to lower food costs and increase profits. We left feeling slighted, angry, disappointed and still hungry.

Cozy and charming - Edit
I came here after visiting Castelo S Jorge and it was cozy, charming, and tasty. My friend and I shared the caprese and hearts of palm appetizers and I got the risotto. All the wines are from Portugal and are organic and/or sustainably grown. Not the most flavorful food I’ve had, but an enjoyable experience!

The best food in Lisbon - Edit
We had the tasting menu & at 30 Euros thought it was excellent value. The wine isn't expensive & they let us try before buying a bottle. The food was delicious - vibrant & full of lots of interesting flavours. As with lots of tasting menus, there wasn't a substantial amount of food so we would have liked bread with it. The restaurant is small so you need to book. An excellent meal

great food, so-so service - Edit
the food is amazing, really, i would go back just for the spinach...
Read moreunfortunately, the service did not match the food. we went there on an extremely rainy day, we arrived 10 minutes after the place was supposed to open up, we were soaking wet, and then we were told that they needed ten more minutes to open up. after a short discussion between two of the waiting staff (one one them was like "you can come in already so you don't have to wait in the rain", the other was like "we're not open yet"), we were allowed to wait in the entrance area so that we don't get wet. i didn't understand why we couldn't at least sit down yet, as the tables were all empty and ready. anyway. we were then given a table, but we were told the kitchen still needed another half hour to open.. alright. i am okay with that. what i am not okay with tho, is that the waiters then sat down themselves and started eating in front of all the guests that were there waiting for the kitchen to open, even though it was way past the official opening hours.
we finally got some food and drinks, and as i said, the food was amazing. unfortunately, the waiting staff kept going outside to smoke (weed). i don't mind, but when i wait that long, and the place is busy, i just don't understand. it's not like they had been working for hours already, i totally get that people need (smoking) breaks, but not if the place just opened up and all the guests are kept waiting.
Pros: the food
Cons: the service

One of the best vegan places in Lisbon - Edit
I went last September to the food temple. It was an amazing experience. The weather was so nice that we could seat outside on the stairs. We order main dishes and dessert. Best banana Crème Brûlée I’ve ever tried! Everything was absolutely delicious. Also the people that work there are super nice and ready to answer any question. I recommend this place 100% 😌 #Veganuary

Update 02/01/2025:
Read moreI went back without reservation and letting them know. Sad I had this bad experience with Christmas. Straight fire if you are into fine dining. Check out the images.
Update review 27/12/2024:
Ahhh, Feliz Natal, pá! As I mentioned before, I showed up for a confirmed reservation for a Christmas dinner, only to find the restaurant closed—no notice, no message, nada. After making the reservation over a month in advance and traveling to Mouraria, a historic but slightly rough-around-the-edges part of Lisbon, on Christmas Day, the experience was deeply disappointing.
Here’s the update: the owner reached out personally to sincerely apologize, explaining that it was due to a system glitch. They even offered a kind gesture—a bottle of wine and a chance to come back for a better experience. While I appreciate the effort and their outreach shows they care, the original experience left a mark that’s hard to overlook.
Pros of the Follow-Up:
1. Sincere apology and acknowledgment of their mistake.
2. A genuine offer to make things right.
3. A reminder that small businesses are run by humans, and mistakes happen.
Original Cons:
1. Lack of communication about the closure still stings, especially on Christmas.
2. Trust needs to be rebuilt, especially after such a significant mishap.
I won’t be taking them up on their offer this time, but I hope they improve their system so no one else has to go through this. Mistakes happen, but how you handle them matters, and they did make an effort here. 🌟
Original review 25/12/2024:
Ahhh, Merry Christmas, mate! So they confirm my reservation on the 15th of November for Christmas dinner today, I show up all ready… and the place is shut! Not a message, not even a “sorry mate, we changed our minds”. Zero, nothing, nada! Just me standing there staring at the door like an idiot. Real classy, huh? Proper Lisbon service at its finest. 🎄 Zero stars lucky for them cause happycow does not allow it
