A Gem in Columbus GA!

When visiting Columbus, GA, The Food Mill does not come up in any searches for vegetarian restaurants. (Yelp, Trip Advisor, or HappyCow). It was by chance that I found it. There are not many places in this city for vegetarians and I didn't want to settle for a bean burrito at a Mexican restaurant or a salad or veggie plate at a restaurant which is mostly there to serve people that want to eat animals. The Food Mill has several items on its menu that are specifically for people living a plant based life style. Plus, tempeh can be added to the entrees for a small upcharge ($2). I had the loaded sweet potato which came with black beans, grilled onions, peppers, zucchani, and squash. It also had a spicy mustard BBQ sauce on the side. I added the tempeh which was grilled. My daughter had the Fiesta bowl which was similar to my order but with rice and avocado instead of the sweet potato. The portons were very large so we didn't have room for dessert but took two cupcakes back with us. They even have vegan cupcakes! All the containers and utensils were compostable and there is a community garden across the street from the restaurant. If you live in Columbus or are visiting, please try The Food Mill. This is a unique restaurant for this city and I hope it continues to thrive.
