Changed hands, little understanding of vegan food - Edit
This place has changed hands and I didn’t realise before going here. I just saw the pictures from previous guests on here and got excited about the pancakes! No dedicated vegan options on the menu but they said they could do a ‘vegan breakfast’ but then the woman asked if I could eat ‘flour’?! She was so surprised that I could so they clearly don’t have a lot of awareness working in the food industry, which is so surprising. So it didn’t fill me with confidence to get the breakfast so I ordered a couple of berry smoothies with almond milk but they weren’t very good. They had a faint flavour of berry and were very watered down. Wasn’t worth it unfortunately. But they do have the option of alternative milks which is a good thing.

Cons: Limited idea about veganism, No dedicated options to include in the menu, Bland food

made a vegan brekkie that isn’t on the menu! - Edit
Went in with a friend. Nothing vegan on the menu, so I asked the server, who wasn’t quite sure himself. I was a bit worried but he went and asked the chef who was very busy but came out to me and said she could make a vegan brekkie for me. She let me know they they have nuttelex and obviously won’t put eggs on it, which showed that she actually understood what vegan was. Seeing the last few ratings, I have a feeling they’ve been asked a few times so she knows what she can make. Would be great if they put it on the menu.
Read moreThe vegan breaky was 2 slices of toast, baked beans, chopped up brown onion, mushrooms, spinach and tomato. I was charged $15.
They also have oat milk.
Pros: Very flexible chef, Very accommodated , Understood what vegan is
Cons: Not actually on the menu

New owners - very limited vegan options - Edit
We tried to eat here based on the recommendations but the new owners no longer do the vegan pancakes and the staff were not very vegan aware or helpful.

Tasty, charming with a few good options. - Edit
Tucked away down a little lane way, we had some vegan mushrooms on toast and buckwheat pancakes that are also GF. Coffee was decent too. A regional vegan oasis in Port Fairy.

Great cafe with quite a few vegan options - Edit
Hidden cafe with multiple vegan options clearly marked and other dishes were easily made vegan. They didn't have any vegan substitutes, like vegan feta or mock meats but a great option nonetheless.

Small portion and confused flavours - Edit
My partner got the buckwheat pancakes which were tiny pikelets rather than pancakes and were extremely gummy. They appeared cooked and raw at the same time. I got the sweet potato fritters that just tasted of curried flaxseed and had that slimy texture wet flax gets. It was served with a salad of mint, dill, parsley, cabbage, and canned spouts. It was very sour and the mixed herbs did not complement each other at all.

Nice cafe - Edit
Very busy but nice cafe. None of us were particular fans of the smoothies we got. We shared the vegan glutenfree pancakes and sweet potato fritters and enjoyed both. No vegan cakes or desserts. Quick food service.

Soup option is generally vegan and they often have a few other choices as well. Nice coffee and staff. Smoothie and juice options too!
