good option near himeji castle - Edit
I had the farmers salad after confirming there were no animal products, with the bread/tea set. It was a good fill of veggies, and good location after walking around himeji castles/the gardens for a few hours. Was difficult to find, it’s on the first floor of the department store. Will amend address with Happy cow.

Great if you are visiting the castle - Edit
I was happy to spend some time here while walking to the station from the castle. The staff didn't speak much English, but were helpful in finding me vegan options on their menu. Cozy atmosphere.

I had a devil of a time finding this place...would have been much easier if I'd known it was inside the department store.
Read moreGorgeous fresh salad with local veggies, corn soup (this is Japan, after all!) and Donq baguette...with drink set, this set me back $12 and I had plenty of salad to take home. Most of their other dishes (wraps, curry, etc.) all have chicken or fish, but the salads are a safe bet. They also do a cake and coffee set, which was popular with the Japanese women sitting next to me. Cake selection looked fresh and fabulous.

Delicious salad and friendly staff! - Edit
I struggled finding food after visiting the Himeji Castle! Luckily I stumbled upon this cafe where the waitresss understood veganism and was happy to explain the choices offered. I had the seasonal salad which was delicious! I would return as the staff were attentive to detail and super friendly! From memory there were two other salads that were vegan as well as another meal (I can't remember now though what it was).
