Salad beyond salads - Edit
5 spice rainbow carrot salad, with candied walnuts, raddichio, beetroot puree with dressed leaves (big portion, taste sensations, fresh, super satisfying), skin on super crispy chunky chips and roasted celeriac dip with mini roti and crudites oyster mushroom wings! Lots of good vegan beers. Doggy bags.

Great decor, clean, friendly, good vibes from staff. 11/10

Delicious dinner - Edit
We had a great meal here. The menu had plenty of veggie options and very helpfully specified all vegan options including drinks. Lots of local ingredients and all really seasonal.

Good cooking but not a balanced meal - Edit
We've eaten here twice now and probably won't eat here again (it's a lovely pub so we'll still go for a drink). The main meals cost around £13 which is a bit steep for a not very filling meal. There's usually one vegan option. The first time it was all sweetcorn - it was kind of amazing in terms of creativity and was really tasty, but strange because literally everything was made of sweetcorn. So no protein.
Read moreThe next time we went the vegan option was a curry but literally everything was made of cauliflower - cauliflower pakora (delicious), cauliflower curry (ok), cauliflower puree (boring), pickled cauliflower (delicious), and a weird undercooked battered cauliflower piece (horrible). This made for a very peculiar plate of food that was hard on the stomach (being completely made up of brassica) yet not at all filling. There were no carbs except for a small poppadom and no protein at all. The soup was potato and leek, not amazing but nice enough and a much better price (£5).
They're obviously trying something ambitious and it's a lovely friendly pub and good to see they're trying to do interesting vegan food. But a balanced meal usually needs to involve more than one ingredient!
Pros: Creative cooking, Excellent beer, Normally a vegan dessert option
Cons: Expensive, Vegans need protein too!
