Disappointed in the visit

There is a vegan menu which was great but several items I ordered were not available as they did not have it in stock and so I had to then order something else which was disappointing. The app does not work properly so I did not get my 33% off though my booking was via the app as per the promotion and the service was poor as we ordered drinks & extras and half our order came out and the other half never arrived. Disappointed overall and won’t be going back!

Pros: Some vegan options, Book in advance

Cons: Expensive , Long wait for food and drink, Wait staff attention to detail was poor

Complete vegan menu

They have a separate menu for vegans which includes starters, mains and a real dessert! I had the vegetable tart for main and the pecan pie for desert. Really nice food and very good service.

Pros: Full vegan menu , Very good service

The best thing was the salt!

My wife and I were excited to find a pub with a vegan menu so close to us. When we got there, the server was pretty moody but we were excited to see what looked like a great menu. We waited for around 20mins for our food and were extremely disappointed when it arrived.

We ordered the 'Miso Aubergine rolls with kale and cauliflower cous cous salad' which we thought would be aubergine rolled up in some fancy-ish way but it was actually aubergine stuffed in a sad long-life (at least that's how it tasted) bread roll. Apparently they don't know what cous cous is because instead of semolina cous cous, it was just cauliflower cut small to look like cous cous! There was no dressing or flavour to it at all. We also ordered the asparagus and mint tagliatelle which tuned out to hardly have any flavour either and the pasta was again, sad and mushy. The only thing that saved it was covering it in salt.

It's so sad to see a menu like that, get all excited and be disappointed but at least it gave us a chance to warn others against going there. There are MUCH better options in Colchester, even a drive to Sudbury is worth avoiding this place.

Pros: Has a separate vegan menu

Cons: No Flavour, Miserable Staff, Good looking menu with sad execution
