This restaurant holds itself out as having vegan options and being vegan friendly. But it is not.
They just stuck a “v” beside a few dishes to justify their claim. For example. The omelette: vegan Really! Hold the eggs please. The staff is clueless how the kitchen can made an omelette vegan. Likewise the club sandwich. Hold the turkey, bacon, and cheese and what do you have a mayo and toothpick sandwich? The so called veggie sandwich has havaeri cheese. Finally there is no vegetarian / vegan section on the menus. We discovered all this after waiting almost an hour for a table. How unethical.
I have been going to the Cottage for their amazing breakfasts for more than 20 years. I have visited as a vegetarian, Omnivore and most recently as a vegan. We were thrilled to see an entire section of the menu with vegan options. The food is absolutely delicious! So happy my favorite breakfast spot in San Diego is also so vegan friendly! Eat here!!!
