Hen Feast - Edit
We came here for a hen feast with unlimited food and drink for 90 minutes. At first there was a bit of confusion around if they were able to do it which was frustrating as I'd talked with them before booking and no one mentioned it might be a problem. However all was sorted and it went ahead. Food was great and so where drinks, however there was a bit of a wait on the food which wasn't great only having a limited time to eat as you're only allowed to order 2 dishes per person at a time. Our main server Rodney was brilliant and friendly, the other weren't as great and food ordered never arrived and food we didn't order did? Overall all though, we had a great time and the food was great! Lots for vegan choices. We did definitely get our moneys worth.

Exquisite! - Edit
So many options available for vegans, we were spoilt for choice and will 100% be returning. We over ordered (standard) but they had takeaway boxes for us, and it was just as delicious the next day!

I never had Sri Lankan food before and I found it very delicious! The individual dishes are small so you can order several items. A lot of vegan options!

Fried rice 👌🏻 - Edit
The Sri Lankan fried rice and vegan kottu are amazing. The cocktails are also really nice and surprisingly affordable, particularly with 241 deals on some of them

Great value, sri lankan tapas - Edit
I came to the coconut tree for a family member’s birthday and as we were baffled by the choice we opted for the £20 a head option in which we were brought a selection of small plates and bowls as big as the table it was so so tasty, we got to try a bit of everything. would definitely recommend this option!

Phenomenal vegan food - Edit
We're big fans of the Coconut Tree in Cheltenham so couldn't resist giving the new Cardiff location a try while we were in the city. Well labelled menu with lots of vegan options (and two for one cocktails), food was all incredible, lovely staff and drinks. It's tapas style with small sharing plates, with four people we pretty much had one of each vegan thing to try which was ace! Really nice to have something a bit different with the Sri Lankan dishes, will definitely be back

Sublime! - Edit
Went out for dinner and were lucky to come on a day when all food is half price! I think that is Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for anyone interested.
Read moreThe food was delicious, the authenticity is certainly there. Which my partner and I appreciated a lot. The service was amazing and I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. Would definitely come back if I lived in Cardiff :)
My personal favourites were the pumpkin curry (Fat Sister) and the cabbage dish along with the hopper (Unfortunately I did not get pictures… Which has happened a lot on this trip, but I guess I was just enjoying the moment so much that it slipped my mind)

Vegan tapas - Edit
Lots of tasty vegan options to choose from. I went for the flatbreads, vegan hopper, breaded mushrooms, the fat sister and a pineapple curry. We sat outside in one of the covered small huts, which was perfect on a sunny day. It's a great vibe outside with lots of music and friendly staff. My food was delicious. We went with other vegan and vegetarian friends and all tried different things, we all enjoyed our meal a lot. It was quite expensive because you have to buy a lot of different dishes, tapas style.

Amazing food! - Edit
We popped in for lunch and the waiting staff were super friendly and easygoing - they straight away asked if we were vegan, and when I said we were, the waitress marked out which dishes we could eat and also said she could make some of the other dishes vegan if we wanted them (e.g. the mixed rice).
Read moreWe ordered 6 dishes between the two of us: mixed rice, vegan khotta, 'fat sister' pumpkin curry, pineapple curry, jackfruit balls and fried mushrooms. The rice and khotta were BIG portions; we would have been fine just ordering one between the two of us, I think. The food was great - quite simple but packed with flavour! (It felt like authentic street food in that way)
Best dishes were the fried mushrooms and jackfruit balls, I think! The khotta was amazing too - like a fried rice but with shredded bread!
The music was a bit loud and the seats weren't super comfy, but the food and service made up for it!
Pros: Amazing flavours, Adaptable menu, Lots of vegan options
Cons: Loud music, Slightly uncomfortable seats

Was ok - Edit
The restaurant is beautifully decorated with Sri Lankan artefacts. I ordered a dal and red rice. I feel that the recipe of the dal needs some improvement. I however liked the uniqueness of using red rice.
Read moreWe found the seating quite uncomfortable as they were quite raised and no back support.
I did not appreciate one of the staff members comments about how they could not go vegan when I'm there to enjoy good food and Company. Not appropriate.
I'd have really appreciated to hear Sri Lankan music to get the full authentic experience. I couldn't appreciate the western club music that was played.
I'd come again because I'd like to try the rest of the menu.
Pros: Vegan options
Cons: Serves meat, dairy & eggs, Inappropriate staff comment on vegan lifestyle, Poor music
