Great vegan breakfast - no more! /edit

Edit: just realised my old review is still up. There’s no vegan breakfast anymore. Or any breakfast. Just basic toasties.

London Wildlife Trust didn’t renew Susie’s lease because she did really well and thought they’ll have a go at it themselves and cash in.

Clearly the wrong decision because the cafe isn’t what it used to be anymore. Menu is rather basic. I don’t even bother going there for coffee anymore. It is a real shame.

Sort of pretending to be eco friendly now but producing a lot of waste. Previous owner served delicious food on real plates with real cutlery. Now you only get take away boxes/coffee cups. No matter how much you recycle, reducing waste should be a priority. Not even an option to buy/bring reusable cups like in other places.

The locals really miss Susie. The new cafe management doesn’t seem to have much experience in running a cafe and produce minimal effort. There’s no energy when you walk in, feels flat. Maybe the staff needs to drink a little more of their own coffee. Or maybe working for badly organised charity such as LWT just sucks all the life out of you.

You can get a coffee and more vegan options from the places nearby and still enjoy the view at the Wetlands.

Great place for brunching with a great view over the Woodberry Wetland reservoir. Love their vegan breakfast with vegan tofu scramble, homemade vegan baked beans etc. Also great Oatly Flat Whites

Many thanks for your kind review of our vegan breakfast. In addition to Oatly, we also offer Soy, Almond and Coconut milks and we have great vegan brownies and rocky roads should you be looking for something sweeter. Hope to welcome you back to the Coal House soon. Best wishes, Susie & The Coal House Cafe Team

Grudging

The Happy Cow description needs updating. No scrambled tofu. Only one vegan option with protein when we visited. Server quite stroppy when I asked. They charge extra for plant milk.

The ciabatta I had was delicious.

This place sets itself up as eco friendly so I expected better vegan choices.
