Served vegetarian food as vegan?

Visited today for food and explained that I’m vegan but also have severe allergies to dairy and egg. I was served a Yorkshire pudding (regular - containing milk and eg). Their Sunday menu only had a roast which for some reason couldn’t have the vegan option that came with it so it was just veg. Waitress didn’t seem to have a clue about allergies or the vegan options on the menu to be honest. Through the week they seem to have two or three choices one being a burger with chickpeas and butternut squash or something of the nature, no longer even have a moving mountains burger. Such poor effort for the vegan menu and really overpriced for what you get. Nearly £6 for three small scoops of sorbet? Just was not it and the allergy thing was a huge problem. Manager was really good and equally mortified about the mishap with the allergies but I don’t think it deserves a spot on happy cow I must say.

Don’t bother

Poor vegan offerings with the unimaginative staples ‘curry’ and ‘salad’.
Vegan burger only vegan if you ordered salad with it, chips weren’t vegan. Still would’ve set you back £14. Not worth it. Customer service also left much to be desired. Very unwelcoming and seemed like we were an inconvenience.

Cons: Nothing exciting for the amount it costs, Unwelcoming atmosphere, Mysterious brown splatter on the walls

Brill

Brilliant service and the smaller menu is made up for by how nice each dish is!
Some things in the menu were incorrectly labeled but the staff were happy to clarify.
Will definitely be returning!

Pros: All options are absolutely delish

Cons: there is a limited menu

Great vegan options

Had an amazing vegan night. Tried 3 starters, mains and deserts which were all fabulous. The staff were lovely and the atmosphere was wonderful. I love a real log fire too! Will definitely be back

I've seen people laughing in churchyards

Been going here regularly since 2004 sometimes for food but mainly for a cosy escapist pint, usually on a Sunday evening. It’s a cosy modern pseudo olde world pub with exposed wooden beams. But it works well. There’s even a Travelodge attached. A full on vegan menu arrived in early 2018. The falafel starter was very tasty but a little dry, the sweet potato coconut curry had promise and the home made burger showed creativity. A rich and moist chocolate tart to finish was perhaps the highlight. A second visit for food in Oct 2019 displayed huge improvements in the vegan menu as demonstrated by a delicious spiced squash coconut curry and an exemplary tagliatelle primavera. A free bottle Prosecco as part of a birthday email promotion added extra fizz.

Pros: Lovely interior, Vegan menu , great beer

Cons: quite expensive

Needs improvement

Great to see chain pubs offer vegan choices. But they need to improve what is being served. Dried up salad and cold wraps just don't make a lunch. Although my friend had the coconut curry which had flavour. Puddings apple pie and Xmas pud were all served luke warm. Normally expected to be nice and hot!

Pros: Vegan menu , Open fires

Cons: Expensive , Dried salad
