Very good breakfast - Edit
This is a nice place located on the outskirts of Ullapool.
Read moreWe almost drove past it because the building is not very noticeable.
But behind the facade is a beautiful and multifunctional business.
As well as a restaurant and hotel, Ceilidh Place is also a pub, bookshop, wedding and concert hall and art gallery.
We ate a delicious breakfast in the beautiful cozy dining room, a hot vegan British breakfast (ask to leave out the egg) and a very tasty Toasted sourdough with avocado, vegan feta, roast tomato and dukkah herbs.
Friendly service, the waitress suggested vegan butter instead of dairy butter, nice that we didn't have to ask for it ourselves.
Too bad it was the last day of our stay in Ullapool, we definitely want to come back here on a later trip.
Pros: Cosy atmosphere - Friendly staff, Good price/quality ratio, Tasty vegan dishes

make a reservation in advance! - Edit
It's difficult to get a table at Ceilidh Place if you're in Ullapool during high season, so definitely book a table a few days in advance if you want to visit it. We ordered fried cauliflower wings as a starter which were delicious. The main course was a risotto which tasted fine, but I'm not much of a risotto lover. They also offered one vegan dessert option, which in our case was a chocolate orange semi-freddo, but I didn't order it as I don't like orange with chocolate. The atmosphere in the restaurant was nice and the service quick, but the prices were definitely on the higher side.

Nice place for lunch - Edit
There weren't many vegan options on the menu when we visited, but the atmosphere is nice and the staff are very friendly so we stayed for a quick lunch. I got a baked sweet potato with some delicious fenell-y coleslaw! Very tasty, and pretty healthy for a pub meal. Felt a wee bit overpriced for a baked potato, but not enough to prevent me going back again if I'm in the area.

Interesting vegan options - Edit
The menu had a couple of vegan options, we had the saffron orzo and beetroot hummus. The food was well presented but portions could have been larger for the price and the food wasn’t as tasty as it might have been. Service was friendly and very quick

Friendly staff. Multiple options - Edit
Pulled jackfruit flatbread is great. Vegan burger is an onion bhaji (really yummy). Toasted Tofu and avacdo toast that we didn't try.

Great food, with several good vegan and veggie options - do book ahead as it gets busy. A real hidden gem - great food, art gallery and an excellent book shop all under one roof.

Gave me a pig soup - Edit
I really wanted to love this place. And I was so excited about the vegan menu they gave me. And after seeing the soup of the day was vegan (there were two) my partner and I ordered one of each. The split pea soup arrived and we started to eat it, about half way through my partner pointed out that it seems there was meat near the bottom of the bowl.
Read moreWe checked with our waitress who reassured us she’d checked with the chef and it was vegan for sure. I then showed her the bits of dead animal in the soup, and she went back to recheck. And the chefs confirmed they’d actually put HAM IN THE VEGAN SOUP!
They took it off our bill and were very apologetic, but as someone who hasn’t eaten a corpse for over 15 years I’m still very upset by it. (As is my stomach, which is not reacting well to having pig in it).
So yes. They’ve tried. But it seems they’re just another Omni joint trying to capitalize on the vegan ‘trend’ atm.
Pros: Vegan menu
Cons: Put ham in my vegan soup!!!!!

Vegan Gnocchi - Edit
