Serves meat, vegan options available. Typical English country pub serving traditional food including vegan choices specified on the menu. Includes a vegan cheese and red onion marmalade toastie, polenta corn fritters with red pesto salsa and Thai red veg curry with green tea rice. Also offers a vegan spaghetti bolognese kid's meal and vegan ice-cream for dessert. Soya milk available for hot drinks. Open Mon-Sat 12:00-21:00, Sun 12:00-18:00. Take out available daily: 12:00pm - 6:00pm.

Another amazing meal

As usual, The Castle Inn did not disappoint. I had the portobello mushroom Wellington which was served with roast potatoes, cabbage, broccoli, carrots and gravy. Followed by chocolate mousse AND salted caramel ice cream sandwiched between 2 homemade cookies. There were also 2 vegan starters, other vegan options for main and another vegan brownie dessert. Delicious 😋

Pros: Knowledgable staff, Well priced, Good vegan options and tasty

Cons: Gets busy so advise getting there early, Not easily accessible by public transport

Lovely location and a warm welcome

We had a nice pint and some chips in the large garden by the river.

Very good!

Always lots of Vegetarian and Vegan options on the menu, which are also often changing with the seasons.
There is plenty of variety in the menu and the chef’s are always happy to adapt the menu slightly to make it work for you (add vegan cheese to chips for cheesy chips etc)
Options never appear boring for a vegan/vegetarian and there is always a few options available on starters, mains and sides, even on the kids menu!
Very good location right next to the castle and a lovely experience to eat here in any season, definitely recommend!

Never disappoints

I regularly go to The Castle at Bodiam and the vegan choices on their menu are wonderful, all made by the chef fresh when ordered , the menu is regularly changed to suit the seasons. I have over the seasons had Indian pitta starter recently , bhaji burgers, cheese panini , vegan mozzarella sandwiches, salads all so fresh and tasty. Vegan chilli, shephards pie, they even do vegan cheesy Parmesan cheese chips if you ask too. Sides also great, mixed salad, tomato and onion salad etc. You won’t be disappointed at all. If there is something on the menu you like but want it changed slightly they will do what they can nothing is too much. Desserts too amazing. There is always a starter, couple of mains, few sides and dessert that are vegan friendly at any one time. Reasonably priced also. A great pub in a lovely area opposite Bodiam castle in East Sussex
