Best vegan breakfast I’ve had in Kathmandu

The tofu scramble was amazing!!! My favourite I’ve ever had. And the thick cut Italian style bread was sooo good.

Great Atmosphere

We've just been here for a beer and a wine, so I can just talk about the nice atmosphere (and the neighbors' tofu salad which looked delicious). All profits go to a street children project.

Great coffee and atmosphere

Found this place whole wandering around thamel. Nice and quiet off the main street. Great coffee with soy milk. Tofu burger was good (asked for no mayo), and came with fresh salad. Only downside is a friend of the owner was there, and was quite condescending to the nepalese staff.

Cool place

There was only one guy working when we visited, and considering that he was serving coffee, taking orders, AND cooking meals, he did an amazing job! We waited an hour but it wasn’t an issue, the food was great and worth the wait.
We had the vegan special breakfast, hummus with veggie sticks and bread, and lemon ice teas. The vegan breakfast is tofu scramble and bread, it was super flavourful, and the hummus dish was pretty good too.

Pros: delicious tofu scramble, nice playlist (folk-y kinda stuff), for a good cause

Not quite vegan friendly

They mention in the menu and on their board that they have soy milk, but when you ask they tell you there used to have soy milk but not anymore.. they do have vegan brownies and vegan breakfast (I haven’t tried the breakfast).

good for vegetarians

Limited vegan options, cute cafe tucked out of the way. Was able to get the vegan delight (tofu scramble) in the evening due to limited vegan dinner dishes - really well spiced! My friends liked the tuna sandwich as well.

Pros: Good vegetarian selection , great atmosphere

Cons: Few vegan options

My favourite coffee place in the KTM valley

This is a hidden gem - a bit hard to find in a tiny, narrow alleyway off one of the main roads of Thamel - about opposite Purple Haze. Just look for the chalk board, or some other signboards. I hardly ever go to Thamel, but if I do, then this is my first stop. What I like best is that profits support a street children NGO in Birgunj (they also run some other projects elsewhere). There's a great group of staff, very friendly and helpful. Excellent wifi. Good coffee - less expensive than at certain other places around. And the music - of course taste differs, but this is not what you hear everywhere. The first time I came in it was Leonard Cohen's The Future, and most of the time it's folk, singer/songwriters, alternative. There's fresh food, most of it cheesed-based vegetarian, but also a vegan breakfast dish (with tofu) for example - simply ask for more vegan options.

Pros: great music, lovely staff, relaxed ambience
