No outdoor seating - Edit
Took a big long walk to find the brook on a really sunny day as the profile promised outdoor seating. There isn’t any outdoor seating, the staff mentioned that it might have been a previous location. Menu is pretty much fried and battered food with no real healthy options. Staff seemed friendly but we didn’t stay as it was too nice out to be indoors.

Mmmm what a treat - Edit
Friendly service and some of the tastiest vegan food I’ve had. Went the tapas route and found lots of different, lovely flavoured dishes of which we still can’t decide which was the best. Not the cheapest or healthiest vegan eat-out option but that’s not really what you’d come here for - it’s varied, flavourful, well presented food which was a joy to discover. Cocktails were pretty good too.

Best vegan restaurant I've ever been to - Edit
Everything wins. Decor, staff, cocktails and of course, the food. I have taken non-vegan friends and family and they love it. Perfect place for anyone and everyone. Also there was live music on Sunday night.

Best burger I’ve ever had - Edit
I had the cajun burger, and it was the best burger I’ve ever had. Not just the best vegan burger — the best burger, period. Plus, the fries were really good. I recommend you give it a shot!

Amazing place, delicious food and great friendly staff. Go with friends and order everything. Then argue which was the best dish! Everyone is a winner! I personally loved the beetrolls, tofish and the nachos. And the squash crostini. And the music is awesome! Go, go, go!

Best food in London - Edit
Wow! We had a number of dishes from the evening tapas menu and each one was absolutely delicious. Has to be the best food I’ve had in London. Staff are lovely, service faultless, good location. They clearly take pride in giving customers a great experience. Highly recommended!!

Plenty of choice including gf options - Edit
Nice atmosphere and the staff was very friendly.
Read moreCame here with a friend on a Monday evening and there was plenty of room. They must have changed the lighting as contrary to previous reviews, the light was not particularly bright.
As someone else noted, they advise to have 3-4 dishes per person but while I was hungry, that was far too much for us and 2-3 would have been more than enough. Especially as there's a lot of deep fried food. My favourite were the satay skewers and the cauliflower. The cajun nugz were really nice too, but I don't think having as many as I did agreed with my stomach. The tofish was OK and I liked the sauce it came with, but could only eat a couple.
I'd like to come back at the weekend and try their breakfast / day menu.
Pros: All vegan, Friendly service
Cons: Tapas can get quite pricey

Nice atmosphere and staff. The food is tapas style and they advise to have 3-4 per person. There is a good percentage of fried food and it is quite heavy so 2-3 would have been enough for us.

A great breakfast - Hope to come back for lunch! - Edit
As a reward for getting up early and going swimming we decided to stop into The Brook for a spot of brunch, really nice set-up inside, and we grabbed the window seat too which is always a win in my books!
Read moreBreakfasts were really tasty, the mini-tomatoes on the vine are perfect, and if you get the fried tomatoes right in a breakfast you're working wonders! (They're usually my least favourite bit)
Also of note was the scrambled tofu, personally I'm more of a scrambled ackee chap, but they worked some magic here and this was the tastiest interpretation of this I've yet had.
But, yes, a darn good breakfast, with some very good coffee. The lunch menu also looked super tasty, so we'll hopefully be back for that in the not-too-distant future, and probably the breakfast too!
Pros: Great vegan breakfast, Good coffee, Nice atmosphere & friendly staff

Great vibes & great food - Edit
I happened across this place whilst strolling through Hackney.
Read moreA piece of luck, as it turned out.
After chatting with the very friendly staff I stayed for Sunday lunch. The vegan roast wasn't a huge portion for the price, but this place is obviously about the quality. Both my main and the vegan banoffee pie had obviously been made with good ingredients by people who were cooking food they liked serving.
All this time they were playing don't good tunes and setting up for a live show.
Definitely coming back.
Pros: Good ingredients, Great atmosphere, Friendly staff
Cons: Not the cheapest

Expensive but good - Edit
My friends and I came here and went a bit overboard on the Saturday tapas... but it was delicious. We ordered pretty much everything that was gf.
Read moreStandouts were the tofish bites (amazing), buffalo cauliflower, and brocolli - we ordered these twice.
The quesadilla and fried guacamole were good too.
The scallops were so so for the price, the nachos were not great, and garlic mushrooms were a bit dull. The sweet potato fries weren't very good. Just an opinion though!
My friends liked their cocktails and I liked my tea and almond mylk. Would come back and just order 10 portions of the tofish bites tbh - they were fantastic.
There is wifi, hot drinks until 6, bathroom facilities, and the staff are super nice.
The lighting is a bit uncosy as it s neon, and the music is a bit too loud.
Pros: Tofish, Taste, Staff
Cons: Price, Some of the tapas options

Great food, good service - Edit
We went early on a Saturday evening and had no problem getting a table. There about 16 dishes (about 12 of which are gluten-free) on the evening tapas menu and we basically tried them all (some twice..). Our favourites were the tofish bites, the buffalo cauliflower and the broccoli. The service was very friendly and the food came out fast. The cocktails were good, though hopefully a cocktail happy hour will come about in the future as it can get a bit expensive! The only very minor complaint was the music was a touch loud and the light at the front of the restaurant is very neon so a bit stark. But other than that, the place is brilliant and we'll definitely be back.

Completely vegan - Edit
The Brook has been open for a few years and is now completely vegan. It's no longer open during the day on weekdays. The owners take an innovative approach, offering a range of different events (live music, quizzes, cocktail nights, etc) in addition to standard eating. The restaurant is up a narrow flight of stairs, is small and feels cramped. Each time I go, I have to ask for the music to be turned down. The space is so small that there is already quite a bit of noise just with people talking and kitchen noises. When I visited today, the music downstairs was so loud that I couldn't hear what the barman said when he greeted me. Food is cooked to order and the kitchen is very small, so there tends to be a long wait – it was a good 30 minutes before my order arrived (it had been sitting unattended on the counter for 5 minutes). I had The English brunch – sausage, tomatoes, baked beans, scrambled tofu, toast. It was nice, though the tofu lacked
Read moreflavour and the dish was expensive for what it was. My partner's Mexican brunch was less successful and he thought he could probably have cooked something better himself. It's great to have a vegan place to eat locally and I think The Brook is trying hard, but needs to make sure that its standards are always high (and the music low).
Pros: Completely vegan, Friendly staff
Cons: Expensive, Cramped and can be noisy, Food okay but not great

a great little place - Edit
Took a stroll along the windle river and stopped here for lunch. Fantastic that they have switched to become fully vegan hope it pays off. A really nice menu with a few options to suit every taste from the healthy right through to the vegan full English. Really nice choice of cocktails that look nice if I was on an evening out. Will definitely pop in again.

Food was awesome! Sort of long wait though :/ - Edit
The food was very well prepared and tasted INCREDIBLE. They have a pretty wide arrangements of vegan starters, mains, and deserts. ONLY DOWN SIDE: It did take quite a while to come out. I think we sat waiting for 45 minutes. Also, the bar had a pretty weak selection of beer. Only one on tap and four bottles.
