I loved this place

Edit: BettyBeats's review was filtered out and isn't factored into the star rating. This is literally silencing a POC about the treatment of Black people in this establishment. Therefore, I'm changing my review to 2 stars so that BettyBeats's review is indirectly counted. Displacing Black business owners from a historical building and then pretending to be "one of the good ones" isn't okay.

Updated from previous review on 2020-11-02

Cons: gentrifiers, they don't protect POC and instead throw them out, did they really silence a negative review???

You mean TBOB enjoys taking money from organizations that host their events here which ultimately means she takes money from communities of color while having stolen this business from a neighborhood that had been predominantly of color before Cam and TBOB gentrified the neighborhood. Get it right.

Loved this place!

Our drinks were awesome, probably because, Drew, the awesome bartender, made them. Great service, atmosphere, and vegan baked goods! Try the chocolate raspberry cup!

they don't offer food

They have snacks from some outside sources but do not have a food menu. Don't go there for food. Probably a good place for a drink if you fancy their events.

Amazing

This place is exactly what being vegan means! Cam and everyone here are working hard to bring social justice to the area. The history of the building, the music, speakers, and events held, the vegan food brought in... all of it is remarkable! I love this place and can't wait to come back!

Pros: Everything!

Cons: Not one!

Cam gentrified the area and stole the business from POC. The YMI is not supported by Cam or this business. In fact Cam and TBOB pushed out the people of color who had owned businesses in this building. Your review is completely biased.

love it!

I love the concept of this bar! I only had one drink, but it was fabulous (the pebbledash humbug mint chocolate drink). Prices are typical for bars, in my experience. Staff was very friendly.

Pros: all vegan, cozy bar, tasty drinks

Interesting idea, accomplished well

The Block is an awesome little place with a drink menu and daytime food menu that also features different vegan chefs every night for dinner. Firstoff, the cocktail menu is awesome. Also, the beer menu was pretty nifty as well. When I was there, there was a vegan cheese tasting alongside the nightly dinner, which was tacos. They had a gluten free entree, which was impressive. There were three types of tacos and several toppings/sides. I was impressed with how good the food was, especially because the chef is not regular. It was awesome. I also LOVED the vegan cheese. I will definitely be back:]

Great space for everybody

Cam and her team are doing a terrific job with this most beautiful and historically important space. All the furnishings and decor were hand-selected to reflect the purpose and mission behind this social justice, vegan gathering place. The bar is beautiful and offers several fun cocktail concoctions, along with diverse local and regional beers on tap, and a really nice wine menu. The food offerings are ramping up and will include local plant-based chefs and vegan food providers.

Pros: location, space
