Tasty and very good value

The food was very tasty and good value for money. Did not have to wait long for the food as we were the only customers for edibles at the time. There were other people there having hot drinks. The food is served on a tray that also serves as plates/bowls, a bit like the fabled TV dinner things from the USA. They also have special offers on hot drinks and cakes.

It is a very, very short walk from the main pedestrian precinct in a modern building. Looks like it could be a short let arrangement as the space seems to be a lot larger than what the Big Drum needs. Could appear a bit soulless on account of that but it is nice and clean and the staff are helpful and friendly. Quiet when we visited.

Quite a long walk within the building to get to the toilets.

Just what Canterbury needs!

An artistic, independent space with great food, a wide range of events and a genuine feeling of community. It’s been a long time since Canterbury had something like this!

A pioneering space in the heart of city.

Combining cafe culture with yoga, meditation & performing arts, The Big Drum is a pioneering community space that's redefining the high street. Serving teas & coffees with a selection of devastating vegan cakes & handmade samosas, the menu is simple but very high quality. Moving into autumn and winter, more dishes will be added, too.

You can relax in the bright, spacious sanctuary, check out the cinema corner or browse the dedicated reading room to work study, or for the chance to put your nose in a life changing book!

Through its partnership with Food For All UK, every purchase helps to feed local people community who really need it. The Big Drum is definitely situated in the heart of the city in more ways than one!

Pros: bright and spacious, great value for money, excellent food

Cons: opening times are limited to weekends
