Serves meat, vegan options available. The chef is vegan and has developed own recipes for vegan mozzarella and vegan mayonnaise. Vegan dishes include soup or hummus starter, sandwich, house-made burger, sausage and mash, salad with vegan mozzarella, vegan tasting platter, pasta dish, as well as lots of sides. Also offers a house-made dessert of creme brulee and on a Sunday a roast with vegan Yorkshire pudding. Dog-friendly. Open Mon-Thu 12:00-23:00, Fri-Sat 12:00-00:00, Sun 12:00-23:00.

What a treasure - Edit
We had a lovely evening in this pub, with 2 friends. Cosy interior, plenty of vegan food and great service. We had the delicious loaded fried (loaded with vegan mushroom bologanise), tabbouleh salad, jackfruit burger and fried brocolli. The portions are extremely generous, so there was no room to try any desserts! All the staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the food and drinks. Couldn't fault The Better Half, will definitely be returning soon.

There were a few vegan options to choose from which was refreshing but overall wouldn’t say it was the best. Had the house soup and beetroot, lentil and mushroom wellington which was nice enough but the soup was bland and the wellington was good but nothing I would particularly recommend. On the bright side the head chef asked how both my friend and I found the food and you could tell he listened! He said he is the new head chef and is going to change the menu soon and offered us a complimentary dessert next time we stop by on the house- as my friend’s (non-vegan) meal was refunded as it left a lot to be desired. Overall wouldn’t go again but the staff were lovely and would rate the food a 6-6.5/10.

Went for lunch and very pleasantly surprised by the vegan options, quality of food, friendly staff and live jazz to boot. Brilliant afternoon

Homemade vegan mozzeralla! - Edit
So many great, homemade vegan options at this pub. The Sunday roast is unbeatable complete with vegan Yorkshire pudding. They even make their own vegan creme brulee. The main menu also has plenty of classic options made perfectly, the homemade vegan "chorizo" burger is delicious.
