Serves meat, vegan options available. A non-traditional Moroccan restaurant and cocktail bar combines exotic flavors in many vegetable-based dishes, some of which are vegan and others that could possibly be made vegan upon request. Known for classic cocktails and craft soda. Does serve feta in a number of veg dishes, so vegans please ask to omit. Reported closed August 2024.

Great Cocktails, Nice Space, Meh food options - Edit
I had been a little hesistant to go to the Benevolent King because I had heard it was pricey, they do not publish a menu, and the menu changes regularly, so even though I had seen some of the dishes, I knew they may not be there long and I was not sure if they were vegan.
Read moreWhen I finally went I had a great time. The craft cocktails are really delicious (although expensive). If you want small bites, they do have several vegan options. I split three appetizers, hummus, stewed eggplant dip, and cracked olives. Some items that sound like they would be vegan are not (i.e. roasted cauliflower), so make sure you tell your server and have them confirm items are vegan and see if modifications can be made (no mods needed for what I ordered). The only thing that could kind of be considered an entree is the falafel, which I was told is vegan without the sauce its served with. The servers were very helpful with advising what was vegan. The apps were 3 for 25, plus $3 for pita (the pita is really good, but annoying that the expensive dips do not come with it).
So...I would go back to Benevolent King under the right circumstances, i.e. I am okay with having a pricey night out, I don't want a meal, but some small plates to share, or if in the area and just want a great cocktail. T his is a good date night spot.

So much flavor - Edit
This is my absolute favorite new restaurant in Maplewood. Great service and everything I have ordered (food and drinks) was amazing. So much flavor, tastefully done, nice portions (they have small plates and large). Menu rotates regularly so you can always experience something new. They also have delicious mocktails

Cons: A little pricey (worth it)

Thanks for the review! I have been wanting to try this place, but with the high prices and rotating menu, I haven't risked going and them not having many vegan options. Most of your photos looks like they may be vegan friendly. Do you have any thoughts or advice?
