While there is limited veg food on the menu card, you could ask the staff to prepare vegetarian or vegan food like vegetable fried rice with tofu or vegetable pad thai, and the kitchen will oblige. Pretty good

Owner speaks English and Japanese plus understands veganism well. She made us a chahan style dish and a green curry. Both were quite delicious, my only feedback is that it was quite salty. The location is convenient but it might be confusing on the map so if you end up on a street but can’t see it it’s because it’s on the small street parallel to that one!

Pros: Good vegan options, Thai flavours, Friendly service

Cons: Salty

Amazing tofu curry!

We were so well received by the owner and chef! She told us all the curries could be made vegan (with tofu) and the pad Thai also. We had green curry and masaman curry and they both tasted delicious, fresh and full of flavour! We order the curries and 2 portions of rice and ate very well. I really recommend this place if you are in takayama!

Great food and massive portion sizes

The lady owner is very eager to help with vegetarian food and the husband is very nice as well! Make no mistake about the portion sizes, though, because the set meal can easily feed 2 people! (It’s ¥2,500 per person) and it includes a salad, soup, main course, omelette and dessert. They also gave us extra rice for free! :D

Pros: Very flexible with menu, Friendly staff, Massive portion sizes

不太好吃的泰式

素食並不突出，反而有點像中華料理。
家人對這頓菜並不滿意，唯一尚可接受的是炒飯，但那也不是素的

Fine vegan friendly Thai

This little Thai restaurant is not all vegetarian/vegan, but the friendly (yet slightly chaotic) lady owner can make most options on the menu vegan. She seemed to be very aware that quite a few costumers find her through Happy Cow, so she tries hard to please her veggie clientele. We had the masaman curry (very tasty, not too spicy) and the pad thai (good ), and we would visit again.

Good food and service

I absolutely loved tomyam and pad Thaï. The food was all selfmade and so tasty. the chef happily told that she will make every dish on the menu vegetarian or vegan upon request. Staff very friendly and speaks excellent English!
Definitely recommended.

She wasn't very sure about was a vegan is

I came here because of all the positive reviews. I explained her we were vegan so she showed us the menu and we picked a dish, but when she was serving the food I went to the counter just to make sure again everything was vegan. It wasn't, she put chicken, so I said again I was vegan and explained what I dont eat. She answered that some vegans ate chicken and I was really shocked! She did the food again and asked what I ate. She was really nice, but she doesnt really understand what a vegan is. I stayed more days but obviously didnt go back again.

Cons: She didnt understand what a vegan is

Sorry I confused the dish was not for you but for non-vegetarian customers.
We never serve chicken for vegan customers for sure.

Great Thai food in Takayama

We loved this place. Tasty food, the speak English, super friendly atmosphere, the chef had no problem in making any dish vegan, generous portions, great value

Great Curry!

The masamaan curry is not to be missed. Very lovely couple with great food and good service. Able to make most vegetarian food without fish sauce.

Exquisito! y muy buena atención

Llegamos al local por HappyCow y nos gustó mucho. La comida y la atención fueron muy buenas. El green curry con tofu es de lo mejor que he comido en todo mi viaje por japón. El restaurant es atendido por sus dueños y ambos hablan ingles ?.

You feel at home the moment you enter !

Very friendly staff who adapt their excellent food to vegan so go for it :) ! We had pad Thaï and it was more than enough and delicious .. They even helped us out with some research for our Japan trip :) ! To be recommanded !

Lovely Thai

As the previous reviewers said, the place is owned by a lovely husband and wife. Because most everything is cooked fresh after you ordered, she can adjust most dishes to work for your needs and also knows of course exactly what's in each dish.

Pros: warm atmosphere, gluten-free friendly

a perfect place to eat :) !

we stayed at this cute little place for dinner and loved everything about it: the owners gave us a nice welcome, explained the menu card to us and let us sit down in the cozy room. the food was all selfmade and soooo tasty! we tried three of the vegetarian options and they were all perfect. the owner asked us if we wanted to have egg in our food or if she should leave it out so no matter if you're vegan or vegetarian, she'll cook something really good for you :) the prices were more than fair; the portions were big and we even got free rice, free tea and free water!

Pros: lots of vegetarian options, high quality, everything is selfmade, convenient location

Cute and tasty

The place is running by the chef and her husband - both are super cute and friendly. There are two vegetarian options on the menu and the chef happily told that she will make every dish on the menu vegetarian or vegan upon request.
They're really friendly and it was a great visit
